Empty shop front on the Cobbold 17:15 - Jul 21 with 3202 viewsCharlie_pl_baxter

With all these photos of the Cobbold it makes me wonder what could be done with the empty shop front. I assume this used to be the club shop at some point? Ten points for the best idea of what the club could do with it.

It was the club shop in the mid nineties. I also remember the club shop being in Sailmakers (ex. Tower Ramparts).

The old club shop in the Cobbold was a fair size but nothing major.

Answering my own post here but how about a snaj museum about the club? It could have stories and memorabilia about all the legends on the windows etc.

Whilst F&C is food of the gods and a great shout, how about going radical and make it an Indian. They could sell samosas, onion bhajis, seekh kebabs, biriyanis, tandoori, stuffed bicycle seats. Just think of the smells wafting across PR….

Absolute heaven in there in 70’s! Send to save up for the colour photos. Had a hooded sweatshirt, red for some reason, covered in those sew on patches. God knows how many mugs I was bought for birthday presents!

St Pauli have their Fanladen, which is pretty famous- we should do one of them. Its basically a bar run entirely by the fans. They have a counter selling fanzines, scarfs, t-shirts, books by fans- all fan created content.
There is also a bar in there and a massive FCSP tiled logo on the wall. The walls themselves are completely covered in FCSP stickers.
Its a great place to go either pre or post game if you can get in and people spill outside it having a few drinks before drifting away after the game.

It was both. Prior to the early-mid 90s it was a tiny shop. The counter ran all along the width and you'd battle to get served by counter staff to look or buy items that were all behind the counter.

You couldn't physically browse items on the shelves or on the hooks like today. The counter was also like a display cabinet so you could see some of the range of non-clothing items (pens, key rings, teddies, mugs, badges etc) with the clothing items hung up behind the serving staff. Obviously there was a much smaller range, and certainly much less team manufactured stuff by the likes of Adidas, Umbro etc.
