Norwood makes stuff happen. 18:26 - Aug 7 with 2864 viewsOriginalMarkyP

Has to start.

You need to fight for the right to play in this division. And he does that like no other player we have on the books.

Whoever plays alongside him will benefit. Bonne on this occasion.

It's an interesting argument, but do you get the same from him when he starts as you saw today as a 20 minute man? I'd suggest not quite.

Dobra is another one you could make the same argument. Absolute terrier, direct, upsets the opposition and makes things happen.

Norwood is one who divides me, I wish he would let his football do the talking more, but today he looked just as likely to do something stupid as he was to score.

The guy at his best is clearly a good striker, and I get that the way he is, on the edge is the character he has, but he really needs to get his head down and let his football do the talking.

He also nearly and perhaps should have been red carded! Kick out at their player was lucky to only get a yellow

Martin from talking town felt he didn't do well and was petulant. Amazing how different people see it

That's exactly my issue with him, he can still be on the edge but he needs to control it better and have a little bit more discipline.

The guy needs to cut out the stuff that goes over the line on and off the pitch and allow his football to do the talking. I'm sick of the circus that comes with the guy to be honest.

I thought that he was lucky not to be sent off for kicking out at their player. He looked like he had lost it. I haven’t seen enough of Pigott to form an opinion but, as has been said elsewhere, he does make things happen.

Martin from talking town fails to see that Norwood worried them.
You can sa5 it was petulance , you could also say it was calculated.

They were relatively comfortable , he got booked , but he also got them out of their comfort zone , and then a great assist too.

Well played Norwood , was def up for it.

The guy dived - Norwood never touched him. Massive frustration at a time when Morcambe were diving all over the place and wasting time.

I reckon Norwoods reaction helped break the refs cycle of supporting everything Morcambe were doing.

He's a hand grenade. And more often than not that's what you need at this level. I think he has the ability to cause panic across the opponent's back line. And if you don't like playing against him he won't leave you alone.

He's fitter than he's ever been. Even Mick Mills said he had no right to get to that ball to flick it on, had to run 10 yards to reach it when it looked like it was straight down the defender's throat. Never gives up. Could've won it for us at the end too.

A guy on 10K a week who cannot understand as soon as he touched the defenders back they will go over and it will be a free kick even though we can see the ref is going to give everything.

Didn't he head the flick on for the goal? I'd say that's a handy contribution.

Completely agree. He's going to be hugely important this season, even if it's mainly from the bench. I love the fact he never seems to sulk. Just wants to come on and prove a point.

I think he will be vital this season (although not starting every match). Disagree that he is a hand grenade. How many times has been sent off for us?

Yes he did and he very clearly indicated his intentions beforehand - hand up beat the defender in a way that no one else had managed.
I was sat close to the pitch and the diving/play-acting from their defender was beyond ridiculous. I was getting fed-up with his antics last season but Norwood seems to have come back more focused than ever, which can only be a good thing.

Norwood should have started this game.

Piggott is type of traditional No.9 that the likes of Morecambe are well versed in dealing with.

Norwood’s tempestuous style would have unstabled them from the off…

Agree. He is a handful and puts himself about. Always likely to get a yellow haha

People seem to overly judge because he's an idiot on social media. If it wasn't for on here I wouldn't see any of it.

Him being an idiot doesn't make him a worse player.

Definitely can do a job for us. Just don't let him take penalties

If he didn’t give so many fouls away then he would be a good player, he probably slowed the game down by 3 minutes at the end! Shame his header from the corner didn’t fly in but he certainly made some positive contributions

That’s a more balanced post and the description is spot on. Trouble for me is that he is the perfect impact sub, but at the same time probably needs to play full matches regularly to stay fit/sharp. That’s a conundrum.

I thought Pigott was very good and looked a smart player, but needs team mates closer to him to play off him. Would have liked to see Norwood or Bonne come on for Chaplin much much sooner.

I think that you'll see that "traditional" as Piggot may be, he's very, very good at it, and once he gells with the service, there'll be a superior threat to that which Norwood's hit-and-miss style brings.

"Could've won it for us at the end too" - maybe "should". He did really well at that corner, jostling, running around, creating his own space which he then darted into, but put the header well over making it look less of a real chance than it actually was.

Out of Norwood, Pigott and Bonne, Norwood is the best if we are going for the long ball approach.

Handy of the bench. I wouldn’t start him at the moment. If we’re backing Pigott to be our main striker, then stick with him and see if we can get these partnerships working.
Norwoods a pain for defenders, but I really wish he’d clue up a bit and stop giving away unnecessary fouls when we’ve got them pinned deep in their half and they’re struggling to clear their lines. Great flick on yesterday, though.
Strangely, never been sent off for us.
