...we are becoming Everpool FC.

Joking aside. I am slightly concerned.

Cook repeatedly says he doesnt need a number 2.
Then goes and gets Reid, Oh but he's an advisor, not a number 2.

Cook never criticises his own players.
Then proceeds to do it all the time.

Cook says he wants a tight knit little squad.
Then he goes and gets virtually the biggest most expensive squad in league one.

I like Cook, but he is all over the place.

Mmm…

Reid won’t be appointed a number two, he’s mooted as being a technical director. Cook wants infectious, dedicated, professionals at the clubs, Reid is that.

Cook hasn’t criticised any of his own signings. He threw last years lot under the bus, and looking around, he probably had a point.

The tight knit squad he was referring to has two quality players in every position, I read it to be this what he meant. Size wise, first team squad it has been reduced, marginally.

I don’t agree Cook is all over the place. For the first time in a long time, I see a plan.

Isn’t he completely the opposite? as I understand his training and instruction is very consistent and of a high quality.

Also wasn’t everyone calling for Cook to get some managerial support in? That he needed help?

Also wasn’t Reid supporting Cook at Wigan when they did really well?

I think it was right to criticise the defensive shambles of Bolton, and some of the way we just capitulated in games

I didn’t think right to criticise Cook for some of the individual errors

We should criticise him for the results

But I just watched the extended highlights, and yeah it was only 25 mins, and in part an improved robust second half, BUT there times we are plying some really great stuff

Even Cook was critical despite the win

Some really don’t like Cook, some had already thought he’d failed, and so it’s going to take a serious run of results to turn them onto the guy

But as Cook stated that connection and bond between fan and managers is important to real success

Let’s go and beat Cambridge and do well at Fratton Park

The Bolton game was where I questioned it myself. We had had 2 weeks of training and looked worse.

However. Since then it's progressively got better and sat was a good ugly win with sprinkles of beautiful football included.

What I love is PC came away sat unhappy. Go back to Lambert and a 0-0 draw away to bottom was 'couldn't ask for anything more

Majority of the board. Myself included wanted to see a turn, a positive turn and since Bolton we have seen it. That doesn't mean we will suddenly win every game or control 90 minutes of every game either. But we need to win ugly at times and it was actually Nice to see it.

But.. this desperate need to find negatives.. why? Reid for example. How is that a negative.. if it enhances the management team.in whatever way its a positive no?

Results and some of his treatment of players end of last season spring to mind

Albeit some of the squad were woeful last season

Funnily enough I think Donacien and Penney are showing just how weak our senior full backs were last season

Question. What qualities does Peter Reid possess that Terry Butcher doesnt? They both played at the same level & in the same England team? Apart from playing different positons, I'm struggling to understand this one. if Reid is such a "guru" how come he hasnt made it in management himself? He kind of fits the post of a football manager.

He had a very decent spell as a manager at Sunderland, which sets him apart from Butcher. He also worked with Cook (successfully) at Wigan. Next question?

The reaction on here is a bit odd. Cook was at Wigan with Richardson and Reid. Everyone seems quite happy to accept that Richardson is the missing link and would be happy to have him here. But poor old Pete isn't getting the same love and affection. He could be just the ticket for PC for all we know. Just having that sounding board/mentor role could be just what he needs. Nobody on here knows either way.

How decent was his spell at Sunderland? Did he uproot trees or fail to wake anyone up? I should know but just cant remember. Hoping this can be a positive outcome.

Cook clearly has a positive relationship with Reid and seems to genuinely value his opinion. Reid did well at Sunderland, clearly has a wealth of knowledge, would presumably have the respect of the players, can't see what's not to like.

Just to be clear I'd love to see Butcher involved, but if Reid is a better fit then that's what is right for the club.

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.
