Whilst he technically was released, according to Morecambe forum he was one of the best performers with Cole Stockton, and were not surprised, although disappointed that he left.
It seems more likely he wasn't looking at signing a new deal with Morecambe off the back of a good season for him. |  | | |

I wondered about this.
He does have very good league one experience and Wilson did very well for us. He doesn't appear to get injured too often and will understand the physical demands of League one.

Bit of an odd one. If he is being brought in as backup then is he really any better than Penney? Can't imagine we would get a big fee if letting him move on, maybe he has pushed for a move if he knows he wont be first choice.

I disagree. Two players so far, both with solid championship experience so should easily do a very good job in L1. We may well not have spent money on transfer fees but in terms of wages then I’m guessing both will be on a very good wage for L1 players. |  | | |

Dunno, seemed to do well last season and we need good, durable squad players — while we have money there's little point splashing loads of it on someone who is probably in to cover a few roles, especially if we can get a decent performer at this level in on a free. | |

I wouldn't place him as a first choice LWB, but I think he good crossing ability, and seemingly prefers the attacking side of the LWB role. I also thought he had a strong end to the season.
Like I said, not my first choice LWB, but a perfectly good understudy at this level.
