Quite. I have to say, I always felt Mordaunt would be a more formidable opponent for Labour.
I don't think it matters who opponent is now, the Tories are done for this cycle - had she won the leadership election and not tanked the economy it would be totally different

I'm not suggesting they aren't done. Just that Mordaunt seems a more natural fit to lead the Tories and hold Starmer accountable from the opposite benches.

She would have to retain her seat first!!

She's able to pretend to 'care' whilst making life obviously worse for anyone who isn't rich, white and straight?
I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Starmer had a virtual open goal with his remarks today, but Mordaunt cleverly turned the spotlight on his swathe of U-turns too.
yes, rather like the accused comments about the judge being a bit odd because he is wearing a wig.........cracking defence that, I'm sure it has got quite a few off charges
As being reported, she showed her naivety. 'Whataboutery' is not a good defence especially when it is not accurate
Neither is the Johnson gambit. Ignore the question and rant about something else.
Another thought is do not give 'hostages to fortune'. Rabbiting on about Truss being strong, taking tough decisions.... when Truss is absent (hiding under a table ?) is not a good idea.
What came across was that she was playing to her own side, much as Truss had done.

Did anyone actually see Truss coming and going? Apparently, she looked unwell / sedated, according to Twitter, but is that true?
They probably need to change the batteries.
No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.
And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show

36% opinion poll lead.
Pfft. A REAL leader would be trailing or just edging ahead of a government as incompetent, corrupt, institutionally bigoted and criminally inclined as this one.
