Kudos to El Miz… he’s coming home 22:25 - Apr 23 with 7558 viewsunstableblue

Coming back for pre-season and to stake a claim

Coming back having been named in the League One team of the season certainly gives McKenna something to think about

Orient supporting mates are preying he returns

He’s been that impressive for them.

I have a sneaky feeling he and Humphreys may be the back up to Morsy and a new midfielder

Luongo ans Morsey are a perfect combination together. They compliment each other excellently and if and when we are promoted, those two are the starting CMs for me.

El Miz and perhaps the lad from Peterborough would be next in line I’d suggest and humprhries loaned out. Evans to move on.

That’s my prediction if we are in the championship.

You do wonder about evans. Brilliant for the first ten games BUT mckenna spent 500k on another CM on deadline day and i'm not sure evans fits mckenna's apparent preference for energetic midfielders who can press. If camara had been fit at any point this season, you'd assume he'd have been first choice (or 2nd behind morsy obviously). Now we also have luongo who's undroppable and surely has to be signed up for next season. Pecking order at the moment therefore is something like:

1 morsy
2 luongo
3 camara
4 evans
5 ball
6 humphreys
7 el mizouni
8 harper

If we sign taylor that surely puts evans 5th choice. Big question mark over ball if that were to happen, although mckenna clearly likes him. Either way, 8 midfielders is mad so you'd imagine at least 3 would leave permanently or on loan.

I suspect in the Championship, we may need someone more mobile and perhaps larger partnering either Morsy or Luongo, I assume we'll have Luongo next season?

Ball maybe one of those players already, god knows what will happen with Camara, he may just move on or be loaned out?

I wouldn't be surprised to see another quality player with more experience come in

So El Miz may still need another loan, the same for Humphreys too, playing regularly in a reasonable side, week in week out

Would prefer us to keep El Miz and send Humphreys out on loan to a League One side. If we do end up in the Championship, Evans and Ball may be moved on for my dynamic, technical player suited to playing at that level. Great to have such dilemas

Recon our stats and graphs guys will have another look at him pre season to see if hes come on much. Or if he just looked good playing at a lower level.... Tbf to him. When he did appear last season, he was playing alongside some pretty average players, like Carol and Bakinson. Which wouldn't have helped him. At least Humphreys had the benefit of some better quality around him this season. That said, he would have to have kicked on a bit if hes to feature in our squad next season.. We're not exactly short in MF when everyone is available. And you'd assume, if we were promoted that wed look to upgrade on what weve got, if we were to add another face to the squad.
Still nice to see one of ours do well and winning the L2 title, and contributing massively..And from his short interview, hes had some trusty old pros to learn from at Orient, too. So , he may well of made some big improvement..

Evans will go I think, not been good enough most of the time he’s been here and not mobile enough for how we play; him and Morsy in games like Lincoln, Oxford and Cambridge were not working well enough.

Harper clearly goes too, shame as there is some talent there but not worked for him here.

I like El Miz a lot but would think he’ll get another loan or leave too.

This. Much as El Miz has had a great season, it's hard to see how he gets ahead of Morsy, Luongo, Ball, Camara, and possibly Humphreys. Like you, I think Evans will be moved on as he's not mobile enough and is injury prone. Harper is done here. I see us cashing in on El Miz with his stock being high, we probably won't be able to get a massive fee but I reckon we'd look to negotiate a hefty sell on. It's a shame as I've always really liked El Miz, but there's too much traffic here for him to establish himself.

If we go up i expect we'll buy another CM so unless El Miz has dramatically improved I can't see how he gets in the matchday squad

Camara's game is totally different to morsy/luongo which has worked really well, maybe Mck will push him further forward as backup for Chaplin/Broadhead?

If we go up, I think Morsy and Luongo will continue to be the first choice picks, with Taylor (if he signs) as back up. Wouldn't be surprised to see Camara stick around as well if he's fit given the fee we paid and because his playing style means he can probably slot into either of the Morsy/Luongo roles better than any of other midfielders.

El Miz will get another year at Orient and Humphreys might be loaned out too if Camara can't stay fit.

Ball and Evans to move on.

With the exception of a few months earlier this season Evans has generally been poor for us IMO. He was a big part of the problem under Cook, I thought he struggled to dictate our tempo, often slowed us down in possession and although he was the best option alongside Morsy, I don't think he's at the level of a number of those around him. I think we're a much better side without him in it now tbh, especially given what Luongo has offered. Evans has also struggled for fitness which has been an issue for him in the past and I would say his days as a starter here are numbered.

I've liked what I've seen of Ball in recent cameo appearances, I think he's a calm and experienced head, Championship experience and versatility with being able to play at the back. He's a mature presence, a perfect sub option for us and one I would keep around. I think Morsy + Ball + Luongo + 1 new signing probably completes that for next season. Ideally that signing is someone who can step in and upgrade on what we have. Camara coming back with it all to prove would make 5.

One or both of El Miz and Humphreys should probably go out on loan with a view to getting a full season in L1 under their belt. Harper and Evans can leave.

I can't see that we would be spending 7 figures on a 'back up'. Anyone we're investing that sort of money on will be with a view to upgrading on what we have. It's a process of continually improving your weakest area. Eg. Clarke in for JD, Broadhead in for Harness.

Next on the list is probably right through the spine and wide right where we're very reliant on Burns. That would likely spell the end for Evans & Jackson, probably Harness too. Not to mention the other more obvious ones like Keogh, KVY, Pigott, Aluko. Including loanees I think we'll see 8 or so departures to make room for some significant upgrades.

I think we will extend Luongo deal but I think if we are promoted we might go fairly large on a CM - multi-million large, possibly even a PL reserve like Davis/Broadhead - we've seen the quality there is in that pool now.
