We have bid 3.5m for Ellis Simms and were close to getting Rak-Sakyi on loan for the season.

Good signings if we get them done.

I wonder if we were in for Simms in January given he was recalled from Sunderland and looked set to move on.

Other reports suggest Mowbray wants him back at Sunderland.

£3.5M is absolutely bonkers money.

Like the player, but not at that price.

How is it ‘Bonkers money’ he’s only 22 with recent premier league, championship and league 1 experience, has all the attributes McKenna wants in a striker. Is only going to get better. 1 or 2 good seasons at the top end of the championship and he’s worth 3/4/5 x that amount

Has limited PL experience if we are being truthful - not returned more than 9 goals in a season and we are saying £3.5M isn’t crazy money - of course it is.

Don’t think he’s a bad player, but £3.5M is daft.

I hate the phrase "big unit". I imagine the same kind of people use this phrase as those who say things like "absolute weapon" or "your da sells Avon" and other moronic things they picked up off the internet.

We are buying Premier League club players for the Championship.

Nathan Broadhead was from a PL club, Harry Clarke was from a PL club, Leif Davis was from a PL club - combined fee for all 3 was around £3.5M

Ellis Simms is not worth that alone, like I said - a good player, but would need to be at a sensible price.

7 goals and 2 assists in 17 championship games last is a fairly good return is it not? Given, It's not a massive amount of games to judge him on but he's only just stepped up to that level.

Only 22
7 in 17 in champ plus 1 in 11 sub appearances in prem last season.
Money in football is mad but £3.5m sounds fine or put it another way he's a year younger than Leif who's only had 1 full season behind him, would you be happy to sell him for less than 3.5m?

I don't agree with this. With our strategy now - we're speculating to accumulate and many will appear bonkers money until they don't...

Put differently, if we'd spent £3.5m on Evan Ferguson in January before he broke into the Brighton team the majority would say the same - but definitely wouldn't be now...
