In theory, with our two CMs, we should control the game on Saturday if he plays. I see QPR fans refer to Dozzell as 'the friendly ghost' due to his on pitch...qualities and frustrated he's still there, let alone a starter.

Or he'll have the game of his life and go back to zipping balls around

A few years ago you would never have caught me saying it but we're 100% a better side without him. I don't even know where in the ranking of midfielders he'd be. Maybe under Humphreys in the pecking order with Camara and El Miz right behind him?

Fair play to him for taking the obvious move to a club a division higher but sensible posters knew it wouldn’t end well. I do love how football’s poetry plays out sometimes. He’ll be head-to-head with Chaplin who dropped a division and likely salary to come here. In that time he’s scored goals galore, bagged awards and is siting pretty at the top of the Championship with lots of belief and momentum - a far cry from Dozzell’s current situation. Just goes to show that sometimes it’s better to take a step back to go two forward.

I can remember Town fans cashing in on his dad being priced at something like 20-1 to score first at Millwall in the 91-92 season. Regrettably, I wasn't one of them.

I was just thinking the same. 16/1 was stuck in my memory, could be wrong though.

Oh you're probably right. I certainly remember the odds being stupidly high for one of our forwards and top scorers.

Replies are strange.

Not sure why there is some sort of dislike for Andre that appears to have crept in. Poor bloke had to play under some HORRIFIC managers.

True, but it's maybe prompted by a degree of frustration. With Dozzell's talent, fans can see he ought to be a top player, but has never quite managed to make it happen.

I think part of that may be that in the most important years of his development he got a serious injury and then had to play under Lambert and Hurst.

I’m not sure it’s dislike, just the fact that sadly for all the poise he has he just hasn’t been able to kick on in first team footie. Whether that’s down to the injury, poor management (not really sure it’s that because pretty much every Champ and Lg 1 player has to do the same) or just not having that extra gear/level I’m not sure. I have a suspicion that a lot of it is down to the fact that his body language in a a game can give the impression that he’s not giving it his all - even though he certainly is. The LFW comment about him being a ghost on the pitch seems to bear this out - too often not imposing himself on the game.

He should get no time on the ball at all, given how Ainsworth likes to bypass midfield and our two/Chaplin will be all over them.

We're full of confidence, it's their first home game and their fans will already be twitchy. A really good test to see where both teams are headed this season I'd say.

There will probably be a handful of idiots who boo him tomorrow. But surely there’s no real need is there?!

Indeed. For me, the lengthy injury at a crucial time in his development did the most damage, just when he was getting into the Town first team and doing well with England Youth.

I tend to agree, although it would've been interesting to see what coaching from McKenna and his team could've done with him. There's undoubtably talent in there.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Dozzell Snr is fondly remembered by Town fans but he was booed big time when he first played against us for Spurs.

There will probably be a little pantomime booing for Andre.

Nice and easy payday Ipswich was for him and the rest of those whom Cook kicked out of the club. A 'comfortable' zone as he admits.

There's obviously the personal responsibility bit but that injury and *those* managers put a proper hole in his prospects.

Imagine what McKenna could have potentially done with the Bishop(another one on the receiving end of the injuries and bad managers stick, to an extent), Downes and Dozzell trio.

Jason Dozzell was booed by some sections of the North Stand when he returned with Tottenham, not much changes.
