I just ate a 'gourmet' Sausage roll. It was OK, but cost €2 more then a standard 1 and was not a substantial improvement. I can't give it the Leitrim seal of approval.

Toasted cheese and tomato is a thing of beauty and joy.

If you want to push the culinary boundaries, a very light sprinkle of mixed herbs is a good thing. Alternatively, a very light sprinkle (not too much!) of Hendersons Relish or Worcestershire will make a savoury difference.

For me, sardine and tomato paste (cold from the jar) on buttered toast. Bit like pate only ten times better.

Just had 2 thick slices of the Authentic Bread Co's olive bread with pumpkin seeds (with Suma soya spread instead of butter; the most nicely neutral dairy-free spread I've tried of around a dozen currently on the market).

This olive bread with whole olives & pumpkin seeds baked in, is so tasty & delicious it didn't require any other topping. Sold online & delivered by APC from the Natural Grocery Store in Cheltenham - brilliant shop, if I lived in the area I'd be in there every week. They do a huge range of luscious bread, as well as all the usual wholefood items & many more which I haven't seen anywhere else online.

Aah... I was just having something similar but without the sauce. And without the oregano. And without the bread. And not grilled.

Still a few hours to go here, but have soup waiting for me. I've got into the habit on the weekends of searching through the fridge and looking at veg that is at risk and making soup from the lot. I've even started keeping discards like broccoli and cauliflower stalks.

It's been pretty good as there is minimal prep and you just leave it to cook down for a few hours before blending.

Then I eat that through the week. As it is basically veg and water, I noticed I've started losing weight too.

On Wednesday I was late for work and found 2 cold sausages in the fridge. I placed um inside a dry piece of bread an took it to work. Felt sorry for myself all day..

Put the cauliflower on the compost heap where it belongs. Now the broccoli, you have the basic ingredient for broccoli and stilton soup. Done well it’s the mother of all soups.

As for cold sausages, nothing wrong with them as long as they are good quality and not the cheap lips and trash ones.
