Considering Villa's track record (see Philogene) I wouldn't be surprised if they messed us about as well. Said he could go, realise they had an issue bringing in another striker, then told him him, if he stayed, he would have a chance of playing.

Would love to know what the 'work to be done' really meant, but we will never find out. All a bit strange as the way Stu Watson broke it felt like a real exclusive and it would happen and maybe it was something for him to keep Palacios low key. It feels like something has gone on since that point the news was broken and you may be right Villa realised maybe that couldn't get Jackson and Mateta and realised they may need to keep TA. Don't think this is one I would want us to re-visit, but possibly TA did want to come all along but got blocked by Villa in the end so not sure we can be against him when we don't know the real story of what has happened here.

I much prefer Flemming tbh. Abrahams record isn't that great, I think we got blindsided as he was an England player, played abroad etc got a few goals last year. My guess is he felt a 'bigger' club would come in for him and he didn't want to risk potentially playing Championship football next year.

I think that's a poor guess. If he was loaned here Villa would need a pretty poor season to end up relegated. Much more likely that Villa wanted to keep hold of him after Watkins leaving and not getting a second striker in after Jackson. Him playing 20 minutes last night would suggest that's the case

It’s fact We went in for him a week ago. He could have said at that point “no im staying to fight for my place” Or even “give me 24 hours to have a chat with my boss to see where things lay” Or even “no not interested thanks” He didn’t do any of these . Even after villa had done the deal a few days ago Therefore he’s pissed us about

How do you know he didn't say that to Town? Just because its not out in the public doesn't mean he didn't say anything privately to the club.

Hardly pissed us about. He’s currently 2nd choice for Villa and there was no guarantee he was a starter for us and could have been 2nd choice after Emersonn. I don’t blame him wanting to stay if he could potentially be in the same boat here as he is there, was always going to be difficult to do once we couldn’t promise him being the starting number 9 every week.

Also better for player trading to have Flemming on a perm than Abraham on a straight loan IMO. Although we'll never know how many goals Abraham would have scored and what difference he would have made to our season.

LOL, soft lad. Get a grip. I’m not bothered in any case, I thought people were getting over excited about this one, he’s never done it top flight over here. I’d like Flemming to happen.

Emery was absolutely scathing about him afterwards too. Think Flemming will be a better addition at this point, and hopefully Emmerson will not be out for too long.

You've taken a bit of a pasting for this take, but i think you may be right. i don;t have evidence, but he could easily have said much earlier that he didn't fancy it. He didn't and left us with Frimmers fuming that we're once more down to the deadline day before we settle things. Thanks Tammy - i could have done without that :). (Only kidding Frimmers - we love you really, but please can we have Frimmers v2 back soon!) FWIW, I think Flemming could be a really solid signing. I'm not a fan of getting players from relegated teams - but do think in this guys case he demonstrated enough to suggested that he wasn't one of those that wasn't good enough for the Prem.

| Abraham confirmed as staying at Villa. on 11:03 - Sep 1 with 629 views | King_of_Portman_Rd | Villa signing another forward today as well so probably pushing Abraham further down the pecking order. Ibrahim Mbaye from PSG for £50m Given that they started Buendia upfront on opening day rather than Abraham he might not make many squads this season and spend his time sat in the stands | | | |

Mbaye's a winger rather than striker.

The facts are clear in this case He hasnt signed and has stayed where he is after a week of negotiations I’m not sure what “evidence” people are after other that that. If people can’t see that then i can’t help them. I also don’t care what a bunch of people think either. Life’s too short We move on. And hopefully this chap from Burnley is decent

Nor that he’s been happy with him since he’s been managing him We may have dodged a bullet here Flemming a better profile and can form a Dutch group with Matusiwa and Scherpen

| Abraham confirmed as staying at Villa. on 12:40 - Sep 1 with 466 views | ThatMuhrenCross | Can you blame him? One minute he's being told by Villa that he can leave and they've agreed a deal with Ipswich - the next he can see he's actually only second in line for a starting position there. As much as we have blue tinted glasses, the prospect of being one of two striker options at Villa has to be a lot more appealing than being one of two striker options at Ipswich right now. | |

| Abraham confirmed as staying at Villa. on 12:57 - Sep 1 with 426 views | pointofblue | I wonder if having to pay a fee for Flemming has affected our position to bring others - a defender - in? I assume a loan for Abraham would be cheaper; now we're having to pay a £17m transfer fee, without considering signing on bonus and wages. | |

In the BBC article about the Balagun deal falling through with Everton, it mentions Everton went for TA but he also turned them down so maybe he really wants to fight for a Villa shirt. Doesn't say when Everton tried, but I wonder if that was yesterday evening when looking for an alternative to Balagun. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/fo
