There's a player there. He's all about confidence. When he got into the game he relaxed and you could see he was enjoying it.

Really tidy footballer but thought actually he struggled with the intensity and level. He isn't athletic enough at the very top level.
Having said that he very smooth on the ball and I'm happy his ours for now but can't see him getting much game time. |  |

We all see things differently, but I thought he looked a long way off the level and the goal put a gloss on an otherwise pretty poor game for him.
Got into a number of decent positions and time after time made the wrong decision, or the move came to nothing. Worked hard, absolutely, but you can't keep allowing attacking positions fizzle out at this level.
I'll be very surprised if he features much in the premier league. |  |

I think back to Jack Clarke two seasons ago and think maybe, just maybe, there's a chance players like Mehmeti could make the grade. Look at the difference Clarke made when he came on tonight. That wouldn't have happened two seasons ago.

He's criminally underrated for me.
He does run down some blind alleys and did that a few times frustratingly tonight. But he does great things too and is always positive, obviously got his goal. Every time he receives the ball he faces forward. He's also not afraid of a scrap and seems to have a good mentality.
Will find it hard to get regular minutes but I wouldn't rule it out. He's of higher quality than the likes of McAteer and SWE, the latter being one who some seem desperate to see more of. [Post edited 16 Sep 11:19]

Football is always subjective but I really don't rate Mehmeti at all.
A 17 year old defender just passed it around him for most of the game you could see he was miles off Premier League standard, same with Kasey who we know about already.
He really is a bang average lower championship player, hence he only has options to move to a Birmingham City for example. |  | | |

Speed of thought and decision making are vital in the PL. You can't carry an attacking player that goes down blind alleys virtually every time he gets the ball. It's a shame really because he is one that has the endurance and physicality to play at the level. He won't even feature off the bench unless we have injuries. Miles off it. | | | |

It must be disconcerting for any footballer to be on the pitch with such talent and think I cannot play at this level, I need to be doing something else.

I find him a really difficult player to judge fairly. He clearly has some real talent, very quick feet and direct running. Physically quite lightweight, and I'm not sure whether it's poor decision making or a real selfish streak, he so often does the hard work but neglects the pass that would allow the move to continue.

Mehmeti is a player who tries to make something happen, but most of the time, that can lead to being dispossessed and then the ball is turned over, attacking phase is over and we are then transitioning into defensive phase.
In the Championship, that is something we can get away with as one of the stronger sides with more quality etc. In the Premier League, giving the ball away cheaply in poor areas can lead to being punished more often - we saw that in 24/25.
That said, I do think he offers something and I would have him on the bench. I think the best thing for him was to move on in the summer, but I respect the fact that he wanted to stay and fight for a place as this is his first opportunity at Premier League football. [Post edited 16 Sep 10:05]
