Middlesbrough Announced on Sky But Not Norwich Match
Monday, 23rd Jul 2018 13:13

Town’s home game against Middlesbrough on Tuesday 2nd October will be shown live by Sky Sports (KO 7.45pm).

Although the Portman Road derby against Norwich has switched to Sunday 2nd September with a noon kick-off, the match is not on the list of live Sky Sports matches which have been announced this lunchtime and now appears unlikely to be screened, although that's yet to be confirmed.

Sky have already confirmed that they are showing the Celtic-Rangers derby which kicks-off at the same time as the East Anglian clash, which could rule it out. The last Town-Norwich game not to be broadcast live was the 5-1 home defeat in April 2011.

I guess there isn't much interest from the wider public in watching Ipswich face a bottom half championship team that has sold their best players

I presume Sky still have exclusive rights then?

Stateside it's on ESPN+ , well it was last season which costs an extra $5 per month. I think Sky is now part of that group under Disney who owns ESPN.

Seriously considering cancelling my Sky subscription. They show Leeds and Aston Villa 20+ times a season but they don't show a big local derby for 2 teams in the same league that don't appear on TV more than 4 times a season.

Face facts, we havent been fashionable enough for years, and as both teams look like struggling badly this season, its not a game that appeals.

No doubt Leeds will be on approx 20 times again this season compared to our 3 games.

Only 2 Leeds games up to October?...if they start well that will soon change.

Unfortunately, not surprising. Out games against Nodge have generally been underwhelming in recent years. A good entertaining back & forth (with a Town win) will change that. COYB.

If its based on the McCarthy ball football we've played the last few years how can you blame them? Obviously Hurst is looking for something different now, though.

On the bright side, maybe that helps us win this time.

Now it appears that Sky are out of the equation, does it mean there is a fighting chance of it being switched back to 3pm on Saturday.

@Westy

The games being changed to midday Sunday has nothing to do with Sky. Its the Norfolk and Suffolk police that get them changed.
