Vaccine priority List 10:21 - Dec 2 with 25861 viewsitfcpaul

Just been published and looks like the majority of us won't get it for months, maybe even after Spring at the earliest, looks like a long haul to get this vaccine to everyone, that's even if we can get 120 million that we need.....

And on a football note, please Mr. Lambert will you leave our club

You youngsters don’t need it! Most of the time you don’t get symptoms even if you get it. The gov have got it entirely right - protect the vulnerable with the vaccine and let the rest get herd immunity.

If I was under 30 I’m not sure I’d have it anyway - sure testing has been rigorous, but can it be rigorous enough in 10 months? I’m not so sure. I dodged a bullet on thalidomide, I wouldn’t risk a new drug on my own children.

Johnson has been a complete car crash, the worst possible leader in a crisis, but pretty sure he’s never said this, he even said at PMQs today not get your hopes up about being vaccinated soon. He has to hold that line otherwise his brexit/covid recovery group loons will be back on the rampage.

See what JVT says tonight in the Govt Fibathon......

There best one recently has been the day when cases dropped by around 11k but what they didn't say was they the number of tests carried out had dropped from 398k to 212k, no wonder they didn't find as many

So basically, as a 28 year old, healthy and not overweight person, I’ll never get the vaccine?

You will get it at some point, unless you're a leave voter.

Quite. I'm in cat 4, and what struck me is that if the protection only lasts (say) 6 months, us cat 4 people might have been better off being lower down the list & getting vaccinated in early Autumn to ensure protection over winter, rather than getting vaccinated in Spring with the lesser risk of summer ahead.

Unless the point is recognised & autumn "top-ups" appropriate & available of course.

Even if it's 6 months (which we don't know yest), the risk to yourself and others in your category will be greatly reduced come winter because the people vaccinated after you won't be carrying the virus and acting as vectors for you to get it again in the Autumn.

That is not perfect and guaranteed but should be what happens.

With regards to Vitamin D, check out a chap called Dr john Coleman, he's on YouTube etc and he has been talking up the benefit of Vit D for months now.

Hope you are OK through this, my lovely wife is really suffering with this, she struggles with MH issues and seizures etc and this has really caused her issues to get worse, so was hoping it would be sorted well before now but obviously looks like its going to be another 6 months at least before we have some normaility

if you ever need to talk, shout, scream or just generally vent, this board is a great place to do it, you will get lots of support, if you need to speak to someone a little less public drop me a PM

Thank you so much itfcpaul - I have really struggled, as been trying to deal with crippling pain after a virus I caught in March 2019, resulted in worsening health and a tight chest and been worried it's covid for months or long covid. Doctors have been flummoxed by what's wrong with me, maybe hormonal but a 3 months course of HRT made me even worse.

The people on here have been fantastically supportive to not just me, but plenty of others, and it's heartening to hear that we all do care about each other, despite the ongoing hell in our club!

I must admit the only thing I am missing throughout all this is football and gigs, haven't been to one for ages, we have a number lined up for 2021 in the hope they can still go ahead, we had a Midge Ure one booked for 19th December, socially distanced, of course, but that has now been moved to early 2021, fingers crossed we can get to see music live again....

Yes I have really missed going to gigs, we didn't have many this year planned before this- Martin Kemp's 80s Disco and Level 42, but they have been moved. Also a ska band called The Start, who had a number of gigs but now no idea where they will play in Ipswich, as the Railway pub has gone.

I highly recommend Midge Ure - we saw him last year and he was fantastic, and got to meet the great man afterwards, he was such a lovely bloke!!

we came back from Spain on the day that Spain shut their borders and was Ok for a eek but after that we both had issues we have never had before, I had an awful cough and lack of taste and smell etc, my wife had similar but at that time there weren't tests available, I am sure there are loads that have had it that don't know, its been around since Jan 2019 according to those clever people in Italy who test poo in sewers and found Covid in samples they took then!!!

My wife suffers with Functional Neurological Disorder and Non Epileptic Attach Disorder which is pretty debilitating along with other MH issues and with this Covid thing on top it has been awful for her, as I said I am here if you want to chat, maybe help a little bit, but no pressure, do wht you feel is right for you

It's not been around, especially in Europe, since Jan 2019.

The research from Italy has been address and countered by experts.

There have been numerous studies thus far checking how many have had it - best guess is at most 17% of London and 5% of the UK prior to the second wave.

Midge played an acoustic set at our wedding in July 2016, he is just so nice, we have met him many times now and his manager is amazing tooo, stayed in her apartment for our honeymoon as well!!!!

Midge is just an amazing performer, acoustically and with his Electronica band, playing Visage and Ultravox stuff, well worth going to see

Have you seen much of India Electric Co, well worth seeing as well.

We have loads of OMD gigs lined up, Gary Numan, Barenaked Ladies etc, something we used to do loads more before my wife was hit by these issues, but we do try our best, unfortunately strobe light sometimes send her into a seizure, which they did last time we went to watch Human league, saw 2 tracks, but Midge was support, so we got to see him!

We spent a fortune on a weekend in London to see Kraftwerk at Royal Albert Hall on their last £3D ti0r, someone I had wanted to see for 40 years! We sat down and after 10 minutes my wife went into a huge seizure because of the lighting (first time we found out it was an issue) and we saw nothing else, I heard everything through the walls of the St John's Ambulance room!!!

Don't really understand your post I am afraid.

It's not been around as long as you've said (and frankly it's not helpful to spread things that aren't correct) and it's probably not affected "loads of people who don't know" as we know the actual infection rates prior to the 2nd wave were very low across the whole populace.

We need a new study on that to see where we are now though.

"I wouldn’t risk a new drug on my own children."

100% this.

Thalidomide and a Covid Vaccine are totally incomparable in how they work within the body.

I appreciate some are cautious, but the vaccine is likely to be a requirement to travel internationally and enter other countries from later in 2021.

Plus of course having it, even if young, helps promote herd immunity across the general population.

Children going to be so far at the back of the queue by the time they get it, it may well be beyond 2021 so there well be documented tests on how it affects children if it does. Those tests are now beginning.

Also, as Elder says - completely different and you can't compare the two. There is so much greater regulation on these things now.

I can understand why you may be wary given your circumstance but I feel obliged to point out a few things.

Thalidomide isn't like a vaccine and it's certainly not like an mRNA vaccine. They do totally different things and thus aren't equatable in the way you are doing. It's like saying you'd never ride in a car because you once had a near accident in a bus. Let's also remember that it was nearly 60 years ago when thalidomide came onto the market.

We need people to be rational and look at the evidence, not form opinions based on hearsay and incorrect information.

If you think it's so risky should everyone else wait a few years as well?

You said January 2019 and cited discredited research. It's not been around since January 2019 as far as most experts think and certainly not in Italy.

So if it's been around for about 9-10 months it's not a long time given lockdowns so not that many people have had it. Why aren't you accepting the research?

"And everyone even the Government scientists say that there are thousands that have bene infected that have never been tested positive because tests weren't available or were asymptomatic/pre-symptomatic"

The research done in around July to see what percentage of the people have had it was based on antibodies so this point is irrelevant. As I have said, a new study would be nice to see where we are now.

Wow! I am impressed! Almost like a family friend to you!

Yes we saw the Electronica band last year at the Corn Exchange and I wanted to dance, but the bouncers there sent everyone back to their seats, which didn't impress Midge much. I was getting pretty enthusiastic when they did any songs off the Visage album - and was stone cold sober too as only come off a failed course of antidepressants the night before!

Saw OMD at the Regent last year, they were terrific, and met MIG15, the support band at the interval, with Andy McClusky's son, such nice guys. Also saw Heaven 17 and Squeeze at the same venue and enjoyed that.

Would LOVE to see Gary Numan and Kraftwerk at some point in my life. Sorry to hear about what happened with your poor wife at the latter's gig though.
