The fall of the EU is close 12:48 - Jan 30 with 7959 viewsThe_Last_Baron

Not long to go in the life of this dismal construct. People all over Europe are waking up and it's entering its final stage, the collapse will be quicker than you could ever possibly imagine. Much like the Soviet Union, it will fall like a game of Kerplunk.

Your not in it any more so you can give it a rest now. How is the British Empire construct working out?

What will go first, the UK, the EU or your reasoning?

Please note I do not think the EU perfect and is open to criticism.

Brexiters have been saying that for the last 5 years but ironically the uk is the union that looks most likely to split. Border in the Irish Sea, Scots who want to rejoin the EU as a separate nation...

If I’m being honest the whole Empire thing is going badly - too many people object to being taken over - unbelievable.

Indeed. But Brexiteers never have tried to understand the EU from anything other than their own narrow, parochial perspective. The UK looks far more likely to disintegrate than the EU does.

Such a weird guy.

Are you still raging at Boris for signing a deal that’s ‘worse than remaining’?

It's a bit late to be waking up. And they're mostly an hour ahead of us.

So, at what points can we expect to see the benefits of what is effectively a no-deal Brexit?

Similarly I remember reading a piece in the Daily Mail when the Euro was introduced- the journalist (can’t remember his name) stated that the single currency won’t last five years. It’s still here. As you say - tick tock.

It isn't. She's keeping up an appearance of 'happiness' by being married and having a new baby, but it's all an elaborate sham designed to make me jealous.

But it's not working.

I sense the fall of Ursula von der Leyen may be close but not the EU itself.

The EU has certainly shown it's weaknesses and vulnerabilities during this crisis. But it's far from falling apart. And it would be a bad thing if it did.

That doesn't mean that the UK can't forge it's own future successfully outside of the EU.

It's just that that 'successful' future will be less successful than if it was still a member.
