If the Cowley's aren't in the thoughts, then it's Pearson or Keiron for me, Neil Harris would do nothing to unite the fans IMO, and a key facet going forward will be to start building some bridges with the fans and the local media.

I'm not sure Pearson would be that keen considering his last job was in the PL and he's been struck down quite badly with Covid.

Kieron would be a good choice from a PR and finance point of view, but it's not the greatest structure to be starting out your management career in.

I agree, a drop into League One might not appeal, even if I'm aware he likes the club and, of course, came close to becoming manager when Jim was appointed in 2006. His wife also has family around here.

Indeed, would be ideal I think given the job he did at Leicester rebuilding the club.

I don't get the impression that the Cowleys are particularly favoured for the job here.

They play a pretty MM style of football, who does that leave given our hyper modern style we are trying to implement?

An in-house appointment like Dyer and Butcher?
Mogga if he falls out with Blackburn
Where's Warburton nowadays?

If it's not Cook or the Cowleys, then Pearson would be one hell of an appointment.

And an excellent coach in Craig Shakespeare as well presumably.
Sounds very expensive though!

Just said that also, I wonder if Shakespeare would come with him. They'd whip this lot in to shape.

Cook has definitely been in the thoughts but obviously now looks to be going elsewhere. Pearson would be a very strong candidate if he's interested and another source has backed up that he's been spoken to. I might be tempted to see him as favourite at the moment but that's assuming he's actually interested.

Harris is another that's been contacted as well. There may well be others, of course, but the four that are mentioned are those that I've heard are in the running and have been sounded out, although to what degree I don't know.

Kieron might be another to add to the list but obviously awkward for ME to start sounding out the U23s coach about the manager's job with the manager still in place.

Remember we're owned by Marcus Evans.

We'll probably end up with Lambert's half-brother who's never managed before but once went to watch Paul play at Dortmund.

might appeal more rather than firefighting at a struggling Prem club which he usually ends up with. Struggling L1 club instead......!

I do wander if he would see this as a long term project as opposed to the 'fire fighting' sort of job that he is normally associated with. Could be the appeal for him. Unbelievable appointment if Evans can pull it off though to be fair.

I'd be amazed if he took the job, but wonder if we chucked a few quid at him, and a fairly long term contract he might be tempted to try and rebuild here, similar to Leicester.

Chucking money at a long term contract is part of the reason we are where we are

Not sure these days, Lee obviously. Charlie Woods was his advisor at one time but has moved back to the North-East and I don't think has any involvement now. Dave Bowman seems close to ME so will presumably be among those talked to, Bryan Klug as well I'd imagine. I think the Harry Redknapp relationship was overhyped even if it did exist at one time and David Pleat was an informal advisor at one point.

Shakespeare's the assistant at Aston Villa, no way will he give that up to come down here in a similar role.

Thats worrying, I thought the Cowleys would be perfect for the club, long term project for them..

Pearson just doesn't seem the right fit.. not an "Ipswich guy", but then maybe we need to forget the past and our quaint little image and look to just compete and add some steel to the club.

Can't see Kieron being considered, not yet anyway.. one day.

RIP Sir Bobby

Thanks.
The club seems to get it wrong time-after-time since Evans has been here. I know that bad appointments are mostly done with hindsight but Lambert and Jewell all came with warning signs.

I saw him getting stuff out of a car in Rougham a few years back, on my way to Drinks tone. Thought might have been a holiday home or something. That was whilst he was still Leicester manager

He mentioned his wife's family connection when we asked him about nearly getting the job in 2006 a few years back so it may well be there that they're based.

Pearson Disappointed Not to Get Town Job 10th Apr 2012 09:28
Leicester manager Nigel Pearson has admitted he was disappointed not to be named Blues boss when he was interviewed for the role after Joe Royle’s departure in May 2006. Pearson, who was the assistant manager at West Brom at the time, was interviewed by then-Town chairman David Sheepshanks and chief executive Derek Bowden but lost out to retiring Blues skipper Jim Magilton. 22

In terms of why PL’s departure has so drawn out and that being linked to ME wanting the new man ready it sort of feels like ME might have a fairly ambitious Pearson type target in mind and that person is taking time to persuade.
