So my pub has a decent garden - we’re set up to serve everything from the pub. We’re thinking of building an outside bar for obvious reasons in the current climate. Anywhere anyone’s been offering something special/ something really enjoyed - food and drinks. Could go pizza oven - but quite a few pubs round here have done that already. Burgers/ Paninis/ kebabs or home made ice cream stall.
So are you a destination (people drive) or walk in? One think I'd be doing would be weekend bbqs and or a roast hog. Get people sat down, drinking for the afternoon.
If you go posh/gastro style grub, not sure there's enough in it this summer. The summer is going to be all about outdoor eating/drinking so why not embrace it.
Ice creams and/or ice creams drinks? I know Baileys used to do a machine for Bailey Ice cream which has always been popular when Ive seen it.
Hog roast is a great idea
“Hello, I'm your MP. Actually I'm not. I'm your candidate. Gosh.”
Boris Johnson canvassing in Henley, 2005.
The hog roast I think would tempt plenty, thanks Lagos - there’s a local company that will make any flavour ice cream or we sometimes make our own - could try pickled egg flavour! I guess we’d be classed as a gastron pub - but you’re definitely right, it’s all going to be about outdoor fun and games.
Stroopwafel flavour!
During the Euros you could have themed days. Or just a month long best of Europe festival.

If you have the space, could you literally make it about it games? Some full size jenga or the twister could keep people in on a Sunday.
The other thing to think about is outside viewing for the Euros. My local messed up last summer as they had a big screen but when the sun was out, you couldnt see it properly. If you do make sure it is visible on sunny days and evenings too.
While I don't condone the abuse. I've just realised I'm sold him my millionaire ideas for a princely sum of nothing. Should have nailed down my % before he lured us in with this friendly disposition innit.
I think beer fest, long tables, stein’s - surrounded by Christmas market, oompah band. It’s on.
Maybe catch can do you one around winter time? If he has the facilities to do a German style Christmas market type thing, hogroast, bratwurst, lager. Winner.

Euro’s is a great call - we’re not really a sports bar but if I can get a good screen outside with a bar, massive. I did think about one of those football pool tables for the garden but it is a bit space guzzling.
Went to a specialist mondongo restaurant with my father in law many years ago. I can handle it as a "side", but not as a main meal; mondongo, chips, yucca and arepa was all they served.I Yuck.
Cheers Coastal - give me a shout if you’re coming. We’re Surrey, near Alice Holt.
I work in the industry as a food supplier, some of my customers have had good success with Mexican street food, tacos and burritos and the like, good GP and easy prep.
You say you are near Alice Holt I have customers in that area. Which site are you?

The Station is easily the best pub in Fram, a lot of which is to do with it's well used outdoor space (as well as being the only one to have Earl Soham brews) . The Pizza oven is a great feature and seemingly a decent money spinner given the number they seem to sell.
Agree with that totally. Food on slates and wooden boards etc is just wrong and irritating. I don’t like square plates either. Round is the plate of choice.
Actually, the worst is the little plastic baskets you get in America if you have say a burger or fish and chips. Lightweight affairs with paper in the bottom that slide around the table if you are not careful. Just wrong.
