Sounds like a club in financial distress 22:26 - Apr 15 with 7366 viewschrismakin

Not one that's just been taken over

"“I told him we are not in a position to trigger that extension to his contract and because of the situation, we won't be considering him for the remaining games.”

I'm assuming we're not of course, but that's a very random way of announcing that.

Just be honest, " We don't want to trigger the extension"

Fair enough.

Good to think they are liaising behind the scenes and making joint decisions.

I hope Morris gets another year. I like the cut of his jib, seems like a natural goalscorer.

He'll be one of our (and the league's) higher earners though. Maybe £5-6k per week then.

I think maybe we are getting in the habit of forensically dissecting comments from the club.

We all know why the club won't allow the clause to be triggered. He's not been good enough.

Agree on both fronts, was just an awkward way of phrasing it, that's all.

Would seem very cruel not to keep him on.

Can't be very expensive, and deserves the chance to recover.

And is aged 32. Nothing to see here. If Evans was still in charge, he'd be hoping to trigger the extension & sell Judge to QPR.

If Evans was still here we'd probably have forgotten about that clause until it's too late.

Didn't we do that with Douglas?

While I agree that it would be tough, I'm not sure he will. Not sure anyone of his sort of age that's not in and around the first team - or not likely to be in and around the first team when fit - will be kept on going forward.

Mick started Douglas in enough games to trigger his extension. Either
(a) Mick didn't know
(b) Mick rated Douglas
(c) Mick knew we hated Douglas but did it just to spite us

Added to that, given that goalscoring has been our biggest weakness it would make sense to have a look at a promising striker that is already on our books

FFS man, you 'been w@nking on for ages about wanting a clear-out and now its starting you're going to cry about that instead.

How on earth have you got that from my OP. Strange man.

The wording has actually been discussed on social media by other people. Not quite sure how you get moaning about players leaving from that.

The wording is hardly 'random' - in fact it sounds quite the opposite ie carefully planned to save face all round

random - happening, done, or chosen by chance rather than according to a plan

You're trying too hard to find hidden meaning in absolutely everything that comes out of the club.

Take a step away and calm down a bit because you're going to do yours and everyone else's nut over the next 4 months if the over-analysis continues at it's current rate.

Jesus Christ you guys are so stuck up your own ars'ses

Its tongue in cheek about finances. As some clubs have used those exact words when dealing with that situation when in financial difficulty and facing clause issues.

So how about relax. Dont try so hard to find something to moan about when it comes to me posting. Otherwise you will be unbearable.

The same post I've just made has been done by other people on social media. But funnily enough they havent got people like you and BB going at them.

Clearly there are discussions about what the self imposed wage cap will be for the squad next year. Judge, Chambers, Jackson, Donacien, Nolan, Edwards, Skuse and Sears are probably on beefy contracts by L1 standards, even with the relegation cut taken into account.

If the club wants to make the most of their wage budget - those players need to be showing they're worth their wage check week in week out. I think it is fair to say most, if not all, of them are not showing that.

I don't think it us that are up our own arses. You handle posts on here like a desperate youtuber resorting to scatter shot posts and clickbait. If many people are getting tired by it, maybe the problem is a bit closer to home.

Quality over quantity mate, at the moment you come across as some weird ITKDobbo character having some kind of Alex Jones identity crisis.

'Not in a position' to trigger the clause because it would risk messing up the club's plans for the summer and next season.

Should the extension be given and Town still wanted to ship Judge out, we would then have to set about finding a buyer - in a market likely to be flooded with free transfer candidates. Agents would become involved, plus extra admin and legal expenses. The player could refuse to accept offers if he didn't think them good enough.

Lots of messing about for what might not be a very big fee in the end (for a 32-year-old midfielder with just a year on his contract and with patchy recent form).

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

Ask yourself this - the new owners want to build a team capable of getting us promoted next season and then thrive the season after. Will people like Judge, Sears, Chambers, Skuse and Ward be part of what they envisage in 18-24 months time?

Sounds like a club in financial distress on 08:51 - Apr 16 with 639 viewsghostofescobar

No, we just have sensible people at the club who don't want to throw money away. Cook doesn't want Judge, obviously, so if we'd renewed his contract, we may have had to pay off his remaining months if no-one else signed him in the summer. Seeing as he's probably one of the higher earners, that would be a total waste of cash. Evans would have probably let him play and renewed it, then let him go and pay him off in the summer. That would have been typical of Evans muddled, incompetent, wasteful, embarrassing transfer/contract "policy".
