It's time for some SERIOUS debate.

Best crisps, make and flavour?

I'll kick off with Prawn Cocktail walkers just edging out Worcester Sauce.

I have high hopes of passionate debate on this one

Aldi's own brand Snackrite's new Chicken ones - ridged and absolutely lovely. Can get them in the assorted packs of the "Meaty" variety packs

Top dog, no debate.

I saw this thread earlier but didn't have the time to write in my reply that would have suggested these. I've been tempted by them recently and have a multipack in the cupboard. Fantastic crisps!

Knobbly twiglets.

Spawn of Beelzebub, awful, awful excuse for a snack.

They are not crisps.

Generally agreed unless one is talking about the mythical Worcester sauce variety in which case all bets are off

I am addicted to crisps.

One year i gave up crisps for the whole year. Not to prove that I am not addicted to crisps. (I am, and I know that I am) but to prove that I could do it in spite of my addiction. My Goddaughter bought be a big pack of Scampi Fries and Bacon Rashers for Christmas to celebrate me getting to the end of the year. That meant that I had them sitting waiting for me, goading me, for a whole week until New Year's Day.

For my birthday this year I was given a box of 32 Grab Bag packs of Walkers Prawn Cocktail Crisps, and 3x 24 classic Multipack.

I managed to make them last just under the month. I haven't eaten any crisps since.

But I will. Very, very soon.

There have been many greats mentioned in the thread so far. Walkers Max Jalapeno and Cheese is an incredibly addictive taste.

I'm surprised that no-one has mentioned Pipers Crisps yet. Have they not reached Suffolk? Chorizo flavour is superb, as is the Black Pepper. They are very, very good.

Did I mention that I am addicted to crisps?

I was being polite.

We have no village green, or a shop. It's very, very quiet. I can walk to the pub.

I’ve thought long and hard about this on multiple occasions.

Winner: Co-op Salt and Vinegar (See image). No question the best crisp. Wow. Just wow. You must try.

Honourable second place for any sea salt and black pepper crisps.
Honourable mention for any fancy truffle flavoured crisps (eg M&S/Waitrose). The only ‘new’ flavour that I think stacks up to the classics.

I'm still really annoyed that there isn't a chocolate mint flavoured crisp!

There's some cracking shouts on here, personally I have a lot of love for Pickled Onion Monster Munch, Walkers Max Jalapeno and Cheese and those Salt and Vinegar Co Op range, the vinegar is so strong it gives you Bells Palsy, just what you require from a crisp.

Honorable mention for a Frazzles.

A nod to Real Crisps.
Strong Cheese and Onion packs a punch and Ham and English Mustard get right up your nose.No messing.

Partial to Seabrook crinkle cut cheese and onion.

There are some great snacks mentioned here such as cheese savouries and twiglets, but there are others which people really need to have a word with themselves about. I shall not shame them. I’m sure they know who they are.

The first decision on the food of the gods is crinkle cut or standard. Either is a good choice as indeed is the humble chipstick, though these are ruled out due to manageability. For the standard little slice of heaven the result is:

Gold medal: Walkers sensations Chilli flavour
Silver medal: M&S plain (not the low salt cardboard affairs)
Bronze medal: Walkers Smokey Bacon

I’ve always adored crisps, salt and vin, Cheese and o, beef, you name it. For crinkle cut joy, McCoys get the nod.

That’s the debate done and dusted. The end.

Just to tie up this thread and the one on new shirt sponsors I do wonder IFF ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Flavors_%26_Fragrances#Controversy) the posters on this thread realise that the flavours they are waxing lyrical about do not come from the described sources at all, apart from the over used salt that is, and are actually synthesised chemical additives and probably from Haverhill: https://ir.iff.com/news-releases/news-release-details/iff-further-expands-caploc

But we should be allowed to dream, and what better three letters to have on our shirt than IFF...

Is the right answer. Unlike Yorkshire tea, I don't even mind that they big up their 'made in Yorkshire' origins somewhat.

Second vote here for the Co-Op salt & chardonnay wine vinegar flavour. Perfect crunch, amazing potato flavour that is almost destroyed by a perfect level of salt and a near overdose of wine vinegar.

Runners up include a fried egg flavour I came across in Mallorca last year. Once I'd acquired a taste for them, nothing else was quite odd enough!
