New poster here, have been reading for around 15 years but couldn’t be bothered with the hassle of you lot but I had an interesting chat when I was out on the mariner last night.
Got chatting to Luke chambers.
He seemed quite emotional talking about the decline of the club in the last few years. He said without the togetherness of a few players, we would have been in a much worse position than now.
What was interesting was his view on Paul cook, thinks he’s an absolute tool, apparently virtually everyone that was at the club back end of last season thinks the same.
He also advised that mark ashton had interviewed him twice in the past and said that he doesn’t have the credentials…
I understand he may just be bitter but I thought it was interesting.
He also said he is either signing a two year deal with Colchester or gillingham this week. He said he’s virtually settled on Colchester though. |  | | |  |

The only bit I find vaguely odd about it would be why Ashton would offer any sort of opinion around Cook (whether it’s true or not) to a player that has been shown the door that probably hasn’t been at the club/training ground since his arrival?
As for the rest of the comments; smacks of a player who’s annoyed he didn’t get an offer he expected offering up his opinion on the manager who didn’t want him and who has higher expectations than what had been there prior |  | | |

One thing that struck home is how much he cared about the club, it’s easy to see these as just players that we watch… they too have emotions and attachments.
I was probing in regards to whether he thought the new owners wanted cook, that was his answer. I did think it was slightly odd that he had that information.. hence me posting it. | | | |

For someone on his way to the toilet, Chambers had an awful lot of information to share with someone, I presume, he didn't know beforehand.
