I'd have Wilson (and in reality Chambers) above Burgess who has shown very little defensively or on the ball

Downes would be a starter for us but wanted out

Sounds a bit silly, but I think Drinan would be a better option for us than Jackson will be as the 3rd/4th choice striker so would have kept him and let KJ go

Sadly, at the moment, Hladky doesn't look any better than Cornell so I'd rather have kept the £300k transfer fee and extra wages Hladky is no doubt getting!

It's still mad to think we offered Gwion a 2 year deal to stay and he turned it down

Talking of keepers, anyone see Holy’s non-attempt at a save for Doncaster’s goal? Really poor effort. The shot is well hit but he makes no dive at all. Very strange.

Downes. Adding him as a midfield option would really strengthen us, and give us that bit of grit needed when we need to slog out some games.

not really bombed out though; he was the bomber, not the bombee!

could have made a fun, volatile partnership with morsy though...

He really wouldn't. There's a reason Downes is looking very capable in the second tier and it's because he's a very good player. The notion that he's not as good as two late 20s CMs plying their trade for us in League 1 is rather odd.

Downes is doing fine in a one dimensional role at a lower/mid champ side. Fair enough. Morsy has performed at that level regularly for the past two seasons but dropped down for us. At this exact point in time Morsy and Evans are stronger more effective players in the roles required. No doubt Downes will go on to better things.

Anyone who says they would get Chambers back is a lunatic and desperately clutching at something that just isn’t there. Don’t entertain it.

Nydam (pre-injury?); I'm probably the only one but I think he's decent.

No, me too.

I thought he looked a better prospect than Downes to start with and gutted for what’s happened to him over the past 3-4 years.

I’ve moved on to Humphreys as my great hope now – similarly a left-sided defender/midfielder/utility player. But also as a CM he looks to have a bit about him.

If Chambers or Wilson were still in our defence, we’d have clawed back some of those points we’ve dropped from winning positions so far.

That's Holy all over. He's utterly sh1te.

Huws, Lancaster, Holy were 3 of the biggest permanent culprits last season. Absolute t0ss, all of them. Along with most of the garbage we bought in on loan.

The very obvious injury-affected decline of both Huws and Lankester was very sad to see. The million pound signing who showed glimpses of real quality but could never stay fit. And the up and coming youngster who promised plenty but was clearly hampered by a bad back injury.

Wonder if our new sports science dept. could have done any better with them.

Didn't Holy get something like 12 cleansheets tho.

Not saying he's a great keeper. But one of the biggest culprit? Not even close. Plus 2 injured players?

Wilson. Obviously. He was our player of the year, and is now top of the table. I'm not really sure what more he could possibly have done.

Downes really isn’t as good as you think or want him to be

So he's not playing well for Swansea in the second tier then? That seems to be the consensus of those who watch him every week.

What people are wilfully neglecting to acknowledge is the team set-up.

All the changes with Chambers at the back would not make is stronger. Likewise with Holy. The team was set-up to be conservative and compact and rarely break the lines. The whole team was a dull defensive unit which rarely posed a threat thus had decent defensive numbers. Cook is making us an attacking unit that take risks. This coupled with wholesale changes made us susceptible to mistakes and naturally conceding goals. You would be somewhat of a basic bitch to think dropping an over the hill Luke Chambers into that mix would solve things.

You seen chambers for col u? Woeful. Just check out sat highlights for a prime example.

But Wilson I guess is based on fitness really. How long will he stay fit for this season.

Didn't Joe show the other day tho that we aren't actually creating many chances... but the difference is being clinical with those we do get..

I'd say when we conceded 2 a game we took risks.. now it's sensible football and very similar to Lambert lineup but better players and more clinical.

Why can’t people just stick to talking about town and not this sort of creepy stuff? Let alone the fact someone to organise was exactly what we needed, and haven’t had from Evans or Morsy consistently.

Anyone who thinks Chambers would have improved anything? If you think i have an agenda against Fairs you’re mistaken and a bit childish. I was just upset to see him pushing something i know to be untrue and simply called it out. And again. If he is narcissistic enough to think I’m a stalker or a ‘weirdo’ for this and if his band of merry followers are upset it’s really not my problem.
