Well I kind of agree in regards to the owners regarding keeping promises.
I thought Cook was failing but I was not expecting him to go anywhere soon and the owners words backed that up. I do think this appointment will define Mark Ashtons time here. Will he just appoint one of his mates, I hope not. |  |

Surely he has been sacked for taking the club backwards rather than for failing to get us promoted at the first time of asking.
He took us backwards with the previous squad and was backed to clear them out and start again.
He took us further backwards with the initial results with his new squad and he was backed with time.
He had a few good results and then turned it backwards once again. It is clear he was not taking us in the right direction. It is highly unlikely that the new manager will get us up this season so this gives the new manager half a season to prepare a squad for a promotion challenge next season. |  |

People are taking the owners comments far too literally. If we'd lost every game 6-0 since they said it, would you be upset they'd lied still?
Ultimately it comes down to whether they thought we were making progress. Like many of us - it's obvious they didn't. | |

I told people at the time not to believe the nonsense our owners spouted to us. What they do behind the scenes is always very different to what they tell us and its no different across football.
Part of our problem is the fact our fans fall hook line and sinker for anything that comes out of the club irrespective of if its a manager CEO or owner.

This was inevitable, Cook was never going to last beyond Christmas at best unless there was a serious turn around in performances and results.
The thing that surprises me the most about this is the people surprised and upset that this has happened.

My interpretation of the owners statements (and actions) were that although there was an acceptance that promotion may not happen this season, they fully expected us to be very competitive and at least fighting in and amongst the playoff places.
This hasn't happened.
We don't really look to be building (on the pitch) and have been tactically woeful at times.
The resources are there but leadership has been found wanting.
Whether there are other elements at play behind the scenes we will never know, but whatever it is, Cook hadn't delivered progress.
We will never know if it would have turned around for him, it may not.
We have done the whole 'next 3 games/till the end of the month/after Christmas... blah...blah...blah... many times before and we continue to drop lower and lower.
