I understand short termism is the order of the day for a modern football fan, but 4 months into a long term project.

I just don't see it. I think they'll have someone lined up but may take a few weeks to sort.
Perhaps McGreal has a few games so think best to give an assistant than if it was just one game.
As much as I wanted Cook to go and think it needed to be done, i will not be happy if they have sacked Cook to appoint McGreal as our permanent manager. |  |

It’s the bringing in an assistant which makes me think we’ll give it to him. Just had £15 on him @ 6/1.
Can’t say I’d be thrilled by it but if he does enough over the next few games, which are tough, to get the job he must have something about him. |
It's a bit of a win for him too, if he isn't going to be the long term appointment, this gives him the opportunity to put himself in the shop window, and if he secures a few good results could get him gigs elsewhere.
And he has been at 90% of the games, so he knows what he's walking into and the abilities of the players. |  |

l dont get this Appleton love in. Ive never been hugely impressed with him. He has done well at a very small club. Not sure he can take us forward though.
