Anyone else considering not going Saturday? 11:44 - Dec 13 with 10303 views | homer_123 | I maybe in a minority and everyone has a choice to make, so this isn't a plea to stop people going. I'm probably not going to go....not had booster yet, booked for next week. So, although double jabbed, likely I'll miss. Having weighed everything up - just too close to Xmas to take a risk of contracting Covid and scuppering Xmas plans. I know a fair few people who, on the run up to Xmas, seem to be limiting social contact etc. Anyone else thinking the same?

Anyone else considering not going Saturday? on 14:24 - Dec 13 by Iwasthere | Not being overly aggressive but find it irritating to get so much advice from those that do not have tickets and have no intention of going. We get flooded with advice from everywhere and I strongly believe that people can make their own calculated decisions. I sometimes forget that this forum contains experts on every field who must not be questioned by morons and cretins. |
'Minimising contact with others during a pandemic, especially at large events, is a good idea' is hardly an overwhelmimg amount of information, is it? Some people have learnt nothing.

Anyone else considering not going Saturday? on 14:29 - Dec 13 with 1362 views | Pendejo | I will only not go if prevented from attending. Be that Govt or other authority action or test positive. Boostered a few weeks ago, wear a mask in most circumstances. In the last week I attended Charlton, where I felt conspicuous in the ground by wearing a mask and a work Xmas party and am testing at least every other day. Thought I had succumbed yesterday but 2 tests have come back negative. More likely to not go if anyone called Paul appointed manager.

'Not being overly aggressive but'...*continues to be overly aggressive*... BTW I am an ST holder and FWIW (not a lot in my opinion) I wasn't giving you or anyone else advice. People can indeed make their own decisions - I've decided not to go because so many people have decided to ignore both government advice regarding masks and the fact that the numbers are rising exponentially and say that they will 'not give covid a second thought' at the ground... Anyone else considering not going Saturday? on 12:04 - Dec 13 by unbelievablue | Woah, chill. If you'd like to point me towards the truth please do so and I'll recant my suggestion that we're yet to see consistent enough data. |
I agree, they speak with fork tongue, one says one thing then it gets over turned by some body else, the scientist don't agree with each other, the politicians don't either, and there the ones who were supposed to take guidance from, no,

Anyone else considering not going Saturday? on 12:39 - Dec 13 by J2BLUE | Got two tickets then my dad got Covid so he won't be going. Neither will I as I was in a car with him with for an hour the other day and despite having no symptoms and negative lateral flow tests i'm really not convinced I don't have it. I think it's better to miss the game than potentially ruin a lot of Christmases. Annoying as I was originally working that say but not now. |
Hope your Dad is OK. | |

If everyone in the UK were as responsible & selfless as you in everyday situations like this all over the UK, the number of deaths and life-changing long covid incidences would be greatly reduced. All best wishes to both of you, hope your Dad makes a full & fast recovery 👠[Post edited 13 Dec 2021 15:35]

What a load of rubbish. Science moves with the data and the information hence the accepted advice changes. Given you've said "no" to taking guidance from people who I am going to postulate from your post know more about the subject matter than do, who should we take advice from? Should we take it from you? SB

Yep. They’ll be the first to complain about “more rules” too. After nearly 2 years into this hell, it blows my mind that people still think like this. I genuinely find it amazing. [Post edited 13 Dec 2021 15:39]

Bit personal, take advice from me, no you must look after yourself as everyone else should, the lies change with the data, it's why there is no real clarity anywhere, Anyone with any sense should be vaccinated up to the hilt,

Anyone else considering not going Saturday? on 16:10 - Dec 13 with 1041 views | Dubtractor | I originally couldn't go so hadn't got a ticket. I'm now not doing my original plan (due to covid concerns) but won't now try and go Saturday as a bit concerned with the timing just before Christmas. In short, I don't want a crap Christmas. I have tickets to the other 2 pack out pr games and intend to go to those.

Anyone else considering not going Saturday? on 17:31 - Dec 13 with 911 views | LRB84UK | Me and my son both currently have covid. He's been to school and the football. The only place I've been apart from work (fully masked as work at the hospital) is Portman Road and Charlton. I'm pretty sure I got it from football. I'm triple jabbed, done all the right things and still got covid! If everyone lfts and does as they are supposed to then football holds no risks but sadly I don't think everyone does. It only take 1 to ruin it for a lot of people

It's still risky even if everyone does the right things, ultimately.

Anyone else considering not going Saturday? on 17:55 - Dec 13 with 852 views | Gogs | I was going to be going as someone offered me a free ticket, but i had a positive lateral flow test this morning, so that's totally scuppered things. Have booked PCR for tomorrow, which ironically is the day i was booked in for my booster. Apart from feeling a little run down, I'm otherwise fine, and I'm obviously hoping it stays that way

My point being, I do not give it a second thought any more. I wash my hands, carry handwash and wear my mask when I am supposed to. Are you suggesting now that I am a hazard because I do not sit and think/worry about Covid all day long?

You're deliberately missing his point. Clearly you are giving it some thought. You might do most things on autopilot which is great but you are using your brain.

Genuine question: On a topic that is clearly very emotive, for a lot of people, why do you (and others on this thread) insist on winding people up, or getting a kick out of playing devil’s advocate with something that causes so much stress, heartache and disruption? Actual people read these things, and actual people may become upset or feel that their worries are being trivialised. Please have some consideration for the topic in hand, and maybe just stop?

Out of interest, what relevance does that have to anything? What type of scientist? Geologist maybe? Would that then make my posts more valid? What lies have you seen? Anyone else considering not going Saturday? on 11:50 - Dec 13 by StokieBlue | Many who aren't vaccinated are going to struggle to get in if the rules are followed given the NHS in England has now run out of LFT tests: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/dec/13/no-more-home-covid-tests-available Was inevitable given the guidance to basically do LFT's when going anywhere or doing them for 7 days when you've been in contact with someone with covid. Plenty of tests available. Just go to a pharmacy.
