Anyone else considering not going Saturday? 11:44 - Dec 13 with 10300 views | homer_123 | I maybe in a minority and everyone has a choice to make, so this isn't a plea to stop people going. I'm probably not going to go....not had booster yet, booked for next week. So, although double jabbed, likely I'll miss. Having weighed everything up - just too close to Xmas to take a risk of contracting Covid and scuppering Xmas plans. I know a fair few people who, on the run up to Xmas, seem to be limiting social contact etc. Anyone else thinking the same?

Anyone else considering not going Saturday? on 12:30 - Dec 13 with 1162 views | stringy | Just been boosted, but remain nervous - went to see a gig at the Steamboat two weeks ago and at least 10 people got Covid from that show (no doubt leading to recent cancellations of shows by 13th Chime at the Smokehouse last night, and East Town Pirates on the 17th back at the Steamboat). Maybe I'll wear a mask throughout; back to elderly parents a few days later for the holidays, so least I can do. Maybe Boris will take it out of our hands?
Anyone else considering not going Saturday? on 12:39 - Dec 13 with 1103 views | J2BLUE | Got two tickets then my dad got Covid so he won't be going. Neither will I as I was in a car with him with for an hour the other day and despite having no symptoms and negative lateral flow tests i'm really not convinced I don't have it. I think it's better to miss the game than potentially ruin a lot of Christmases. Annoying as I was originally working that say but not now.

Anyone else considering not going Saturday? on 12:45 - Dec 13 with 1083 views | Keaneish | Portman Toad is the only ground I’ve been to this season where I’ve had to show proof of vaccination and that includes grounds outside of this league. Anyone any idea why this is?

Anyone else considering not going Saturday? on 12:56 - Dec 13 with 1005 views | Ace_High1 | No, as of Friday last week now in a self imposed isolation as due to fly to some 30 degree sunshine next week and do not want to risk it.
Anyone else considering not going Saturday? on 12:58 - Dec 13 with 991 views | TJS | I had covid in October and I'm pretty sure I got it at the Shrewsbury match on the 9th (tested positive on 12th) I was having a drink in the SBR lower for about 20 minutes when there was a lot of singing and bouncing going on. I had been vaccinated in March and May but it didn't stop me getting it. I had a third dose about 3 weeks ago so I will be going on Saturday but wouldn't blame anyone for not going. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Anyone else considering not going Saturday? on 12:59 - Dec 13 with 990 views | StochesStotasBlewe | At the moment, I’m still thinking of going having had Covid plus the jabs and booster 2 weeks ago. However, will be keeping a close eye on developments as the week progresses and make a final decision Saturday morning, if indeed the decision isn’t taken out of our hands by then.
| We have no village green, or a shop.
It's very, very quiet.
I can walk to the pub. |

Anyone else considering not going Saturday? on 13:02 - Dec 13 with 985 views | Steve_M | As things stand , then I will be going but it's a valid question and everyone should really have gone through the thought process on their own risk appetite for this match and also anything else they want to do. I wasn't going to do go to the work Christmas Party this week in any case but that's been - unsurprisingly - cancelled this morning. If we get to the end of January without restrictions on watching sport live then I'll be pleasantly surprised. I'm very glad that ITFC have been doing vaccination checks all along.

I think this was forward planning, and has all the hallmarks of Ashton. Other clubs will struggle to implement the new requirements, but not Ipswich.

certain i caught it at the Doncaster night game - although convinced it wasn't actually at the game but in mcdonalds getting Miss F's 'dinner' beforehand. In there of course it's not even conventional queuing where people standing in a line wouldn't be facing each other - its the panel ordering where everybody basically is facing each other that seals it

I was at that Doncaster game. 3 days later sore throat then terrible fever for next 3-4 days. First days off work for over 20 years. PCR test was negative but that was around the time of all the false negative test results. I have a ticket for Saturday in the posh seats. Wondering if its worth the hassle as I don't get my booster till Thursday. Shame given the effort people and the club put into this.

No I didn't because it's not an opinion. It's backed up by scientific evidence unlike anything you ever post. You've only ever posted 11 times, all downplaying covid. You've added nothing to the forum except your incorrect posts and downvotes. You're a troll who should have been banned after your first set of posts. SB

Was never going Saturday but taking the 'kids' (21 and 17) to the wycombe game theoretically. Before all that i'm actually going to emirates on a freebie for the west ham game, which is probably more likely. I had 2 negative LF's after Doncaster and none of the symptoms other than the big one of losing taste/smell, which 9 weeks later is only say 20% back. I was able to self isolate for 10 days so just locked myself away and never actually did a PCR.
Anyone else considering not going Saturday? on 13:24 - Dec 13 with 898 views | itfcjoe | I'll be going - I feel pretty immune to it as have had booster and lived with my son and wife who had it (and there wasn't a hint of isolation from me with either of them) and didn't get it but will take the necessary precautions I see my family regularly, on both sides so whilst I don't want to ruin Xmas it's not a massive deal if someone has it and we have to miss it because we are all local and see each other so not going to miss out on anything. I have a holiday booked between Xmas and New Year but I'm not that fussed by it to tell the truth and fully covered - I'd probably prefer to stay home to be totally honest!

Anyone else considering not going Saturday? on 12:19 - Dec 13 by thebooks | Well, I got Covid in October and have had my booster, so guess I’m at low risk of getting it or passing it on (more than happy for SB to correct me if I’m wrong on this). I will add I got it at the Doncaster match, so if anyone’s thinking it’s outdoors so probably OK – I would reconsider. Bear in mind no-one will be wearing masks in the concourse (apart from me and about 3 others), and the crowd will be about 28,000… |
I've caught 2 "ordinary" colds in past 2 years from people more than socially distanced outside when the wind was blowing from them towards me. [Post edited 13 Dec 2021 13:26]

To be fair the lower North of that Doncaster game was like a Covid bukkake.

That Doncaster game was a super spreader event, the amount of people that caught covid from that game was insane. Which then begs the question regarding Vaccine Passports, even though everyone had to show proof of vaccination or neg LFT it still remained rampant in the ground.

"I'll be going - I feel pretty immune to it as have had booster and lived with my son and wife who had it (and there wasn't a hint of isolation from me with either of them) and didn't get it but will take the necessary precautions" Just for clarity, they didn't have Omicron which is miles more contagious from what the studies are showing. Having had Delta doesn't stop you getting Omicron either. Doesn't affect your decision of course, just putting the information out there for all. SB

The rationale for keeping football grounds open is that Covid doesn't spread outdoors, so unless you're literally standing next to someone infectious for a prolonged period of time the risk is low. A rationale entirely defeated by having the concourses and bars open. Shut the concourses and you'd make Portman Road a million times safer.
