Right I’m no prude, but…. 22:10 - Jan 26 with 8939 viewsMatt_Netherlands

When did C * NT become the go to word for every single football fan? Don’t get me wrong, I’ll drop the odd C Bomb every so often, but having it screamed in your ear by someone stood 6 inches behind you for 90 minutes can get a bit tiresome. The refs one, every opposition player is one, the 8,000 home fans are all one, Wesley Burns is a beautiful one, and so on and so on.

Makes me cringe when it’s used to much with younger kids or older generations around.

Anyway…. Just seems a bit symptomatic of how football fans have got a lot less classy and got a lot more Green Street over the past 20 years or so.

We have no village green, or a shop. It's very, very quiet. I can walk to the pub.

Swear words, and the C-word especially, need to be used wisely.

They can be the perfect addition to anything, but context is always needed.

Applied properly it can be beautiful, magnificent, but otherwise overuse just dilutes the meaning and makes someone look like an idiot.

How would you feel if cardamom was added to every dish you ate? Food for thought.

Perhaps Wordle was too complicated for them so they have to stick to 4 letters?

'Every single football fan'? Well I'm a football fan, and don't use that particular word at matches. I'm sure there are others too.

Yeah fair point. More referring to the vocal majority I guess…. Actually it’s probably not even a majority, but just more prevalent that I can ever remember from 25 years watching football!

The C bomb should only be used in extreme circumstances, frequent use really does decrease it's impact.

Is it used more at London based away games?

Anyone using that word more than once a week is one, as a rule.

There's an exemption, of course, if you're referring to that c*** Johnson.

It's not just at football, it's everywhere.

Really dislike it, but accept its use is very occasionally warranted.

What some people don't seem to realise when using it & other 'strong' language generally, is that it doesn't strengthen their argument if used frequently, quite the opposite - especially if in messages to their MPs or other people they wish to influence - who'll usually take one glance at it & either chuck letter in physical bin or dismiss/delete the e-message straight away.

Or Phill (the tw@t even spells his own name wrong) from Bedford, who my now ex wife assured me was gay so my concerns about their relationship were unnecessary. Turns out he wasn't totally.

Won’t open the can of worms on the london away game debate again… but I do think it tends to be a certain type of fan! Often the type who stumble in 2 minutes before kick off whilst many others watch on in despair as they climb the stairs and into their close vicinity!

There was some lad I used to see at away matches who would scream it at the top of his voice whenever there was a quiet moment in the game, then giggle amongst his mates like a bunch of primary school kids laughing about "poo" or "willies".

Bantz, presumably.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?
