Mr Ashton is rubbish. We are a mid table division 3 club. Until this club finds a way to move up the leagues our status remains the same. Sorry to mention it but you were involved in 19 players coming in last summer. 6 players were top quality and now we have to go again. All your big ideas will be meaningless if we can’t get out of this league.

Clearly it just depends on what you mean when you say, 'big club'. We're not Man Utd or Barcelona obviously. We're not just below that level like say Villa or Leeds either. But if you want to call the likes of Southampton or Leicester big clubs then we're in the same sort of area. We've just not had a very good team for twenty years.

Well yes - Town are and always have been anything other a ‘big club’. For a brief moment in time they have been a small town club punching considerably above their weight due largely to a charismatic chairman and two long departed managers.

Now they are a decayed small Town club fallen prey to some financial opportunists. Of course the chancers looking to make a financial killing at the club’s expense are talking big. But they don’t know any better

No. I actually care about the club.

I just say things people don't tend to agree with. That's OK. But it's all on good spirits despite people's thoughts.

Ely I noticed you didn't agree with my take on this thread. Was it the big club part or the Rotherham part you didn't agree with. Maybe even both.

If it was the Rotherham part. I don't myself class them as a big club. But when we play them they honestly do look like the big club between the two sides. They are ugly and relentless and have this certain presentation about them.

Size of fanbase, budget, hiring power, stadium, facilities, reputation, history - most importantly, realistic potential and ambitions. In all of those aspects, ITFC is a big club.

Clubs of arguably no greater "size" are currently in the Prem. Nobody would be surprised if, in a season or two, Ipswich were at the upper end of the Championship, challenging for promotion. With the greatest of respect, would anyone say the same of Accrington, Burton or Cheltenham? Would people consider Sunderland or Sheffield Wednesday to no longer be "big clubs", because they've found themselves in the third tier?

Ashton is talking about potential, not our current League status. About where we could be going, rather than where we currently are. And he's right.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

How interesting that you talked about the club in the third person. And indeed in doing so you trotted into the same old drivel. Great. If you feel good about it I’m pleased for you. Don’t forget the tissues.

You no more follow ITFC than I was on the Apollo space programme.

I do - but clearly you do not Town are neither at present.

They have been good in the past but never ‘big’. It would help their current position as slightly above average third division trundlers no end if all these ‘big club’ delusions were dropped and people recognised Town as a small Town football club that used to be good a very long time ago.

Unprecedented success over forty years ago is utterly irrelevant.

'Unprecedented success over forty years ago is utterly irrelevant.'

The UEFA Cup and FA Cup wins over forty years ago were not unprecedented, because we had won the Football League twenty years before that.

I realise that these things are hard to understand for supporters whose clubs have NO success, let alone unprecedented success to look back on.

Not that I'm saying that your one of them, much. Lols.

To be fair, since the post seems very much anti-Ashton specifically as much as doing ITFC down, I wondered if they might be Brizzle as much as budgie.

Ah yes , you could have a point there . But both begin with a “ B” so likely cut from the same cloth .

Build for next season now . Wonder if we’ll be seeing one or two youngsters come in now for the last few games ? Think I’d be giving it a go tbh ….

I posted a while back that I hate the talk of being a big club. I get why it's said but I still think it's done the opposite of giving players the boost when it's sung about by the directors or the manager etc.

At present we are just a league 1 side in a big stadium. Rotherham have the presence of a big club when you play them. We don't.

Honestly you're thick as pig sh*t.

This is the problem dumbass, not even you can keep up with the sh8te you write. Honestly, I'd ground my 13 year old son for being thick if he wrote half the stuff you did.

Not only that, when someone has a pop and points out your stupidity you double down and go off on a tangent which has nothing to do with your original thick as sh*t OP.

You're a budgie scumbag with nothing better to do and should be banned. I fail to believe a 35 year old plus make could be a thick as you are. Stop embarrassing yourself.

Correct, however my original reply said they seem to have the presence of a big club during games. That's not saying they are a big club, it's just they own the pitch at this level.
Again that's my view of it.

Where have you been for 2 months. Haven't started a thread since we lost at Sheffield Wednesday.

We go unbeaten in 11, we don't here a word, we lose one game, and you rise like the phoenix.

Where were you when we dominated 4th in the league last week?

Relax. Cambridge did a job on us on Saturday, it can happen - we are a very good side, a bad day at the office does not change that.
