Truss now favourite to be next PM. I wouldn’t argue with the bookies there. She’ll hoover up most of Badenoch’s supporters and the UKIP type membership will vote for her. Truss as PM….the banter era continues.

Sunak wanted Truss in the final 2 because she is the only candidate he (might) beat. Wouldn't surprise me if several of his supporters are lending her votes for that sole purpose.

Thing is though, the Tory party membership are probably mad enough and stupid enough to want Truss.

They think at least 10 did so to prop us Truss in the last round as TT’s votes wouldn’t go to Truss. Sunak vs Truss would be Labour’s perfect final 2. Both utterly tainted by Johnson and their loyalty to him

Sunak’s only slim chance of winning is Truss and vice versa. It’s sadly predictable and pathetic

Disagree I'd have thought Sunak would've had a much better chance against Mordaunt

The YouGov polls of Tory membership have Mordaunt beating every candidate by double digits [Post edited 19 Jul 2022 15:48]

No way This is completely engineered. I will never understand though why Truss is seen as in anyway capable. At least with Rishi you know he has a brain.

It’s Brexit and Johnson loyalists. Nothing more She is utterly useless and has the same influencers as Johnson to placate (Bannon etc)

My thoughts were based on a reflection of the Tory membership rather than Truss's capabilities I can't see there being too many floating voters in a Truss v Sunak head to head, the right will still vote for her no matter how badly she performs.

The tweet you’ve linked literally shows Sunak is closer to beating Mordaunt than anyone else (albeit still some way off)…

It's not about competence and suitability for the job, it's about who the Tory members and MPs want in charge. If it was about competence and suitability for the job, Johnson would have been barred from staring, let alone won.

Losing by double digits though. This is the poll from today. One from last week had Mordaunt further ahead so the smear campaign must be working

Except for Badenoch, the later beating mordaunt and all others. Although she's now out. These polls seem about as useful as a chocolate fireguard!

A surreal thought isn't it? That's the consequence with Johnson surrounding himself with talentless people.
