Not sure it could get much thinner really. Casually slagging her off as you go is actually fairly funny, although Braverman is an awful person.

What she means is she did it deliberately, and the Home Office's IT security software picked it up.

It smakcs of those tit fir tat embassey staff expulsions Poor old 'Rabid Burns MP was abrutely sacked for what is expected in the Tory Party " I say chaps, dashed bad form when a chap cannot touch another chaps thigh. What do they think rugger and communal baths are for ?" For the rest of us it is akin to watching the DUP types in NI having a feud and bumping each other off (though some might, with understandable reason, see this as the Tories Night of the Long Knives). Whose next ? Smokin' Joe Coffey ? 'Not so' Cleverly ? The scrupulously principled Zahawii ? I should imagine the stick insect will be kept on, for his novelty value if nothing else.

I don't doubt that the official reason is bollicks, but how would the IT software pick it up if she sent it from her personal mail/phone?

I'd be more inclined to believe that she did it, and then promptly turned herself in about 30s later.

The build on those Govt phones should be absolutely locked down (though with this lot who knows) so official documents can't be attached to emails and sent from/to private email accounts - I expect the mail servers (which all Govt emails should pass through) are under a particularly detailed monitoring regime at the moment for Truss allies....and even if the build allowed private emails accounts to be accessed, I'm sure that any forwarding can be detected....

You can't expect a former Home Secretary and Attorney General to know about that . Of course this could all be rather convenient. [Post edited 19 Oct 2022 16:57]

Truss did not make any mistake. That was her intent and still is. Not something brexiters want to face, but that is ultimately part of what they voted for. A thought elsewhere is that she and the other swivel eyed loons knew pretty much what would happen, as they see smashing everything up is the only way to start again..........without the NHS, benefits and pensions being as they are. That argument has some merit, when set in the context of brexit thinking, but is Truss really that mad ?

I think you're underselling his suitability. He's incompetent, dishonest AND a fraudster. Should get on well. Much less of a sociopath though, agreed. I'm struggling to understand her comments about the Tories going in the wrong direction for her, given she was a bit like the Hannibal Lecter of the cabinet. A raving fanatical loon who fantasises about vulnerable people suffering. Nice.

From the BBC: Senior Conservative MP Charles Walker tells the BBC that after this evening's events in the voting lobby, he's livid and has run out of patience with his party and his colleagues. Visibly shaken, Walker says it is "inexcusable" and there is "no coming back" from this for the government. "I think it's a shambles and a disgrace," Walker says, adding that the current government has damaged his party's reputation. He says he has had enough of "talentless" people being in cabinet and says he hopes it was worth it for those who backed Liz Truss for a red box or a seat around the cabinet table. Walker, an MP for 17 years, says many fellow Tory backbenchers are frustrated by the current cabinet and afraid for their jobs. "Patience has reached the limit," he adds.
