So the FBI say… 10:54 - Mar 1 with 10217 viewschicoazul

….covid 19 probably leaked from a Chinese government laboratory.
That’s interesting isn’t it. Many TWTD boyos got upset when Trump called it the Chinese virus.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!
Poll: With Evans taking 65% in Huddersfield, is the Banter Era over?

A ‘sniffle’. Seriously???

I only know what I saw and Covid was no ‘sniffle’. Given how many people lost friends and relations to it and how many people have had their long term health wrecked by it, I am amazed you came out with such a line, even as a wind up.

I only know what I saw too. Not enough to agree with the hysteria. At the time or now.

So because you didn’t see anyone die or seriously ill you think that it was all hysteria?

The argument that things can only be true if you've seen them with your own eyes is utterly, utterly stupid.

I've not seen you, thus by your own logic, you can't exist.

Why? Did you tell them equine influenza was made up?

No Horses.

Betting industries conspiracy. As soon as online betting started all the horses were turned into Eastern European Lasagne. Don’t need real horses to get money online.

I haven’t seen a horse running around a track for 20 years, so that’s proof right there.

I don’t mean to trivialise Covid but it’s a little bit like the response that the Millennium bug received a couple or days after that New Year. Nothing happened, so therefore it was all total rubbish. The fact that thousands of experts all worked together in order to avert it from happening didn’t come into play to some. If nothing happened, then there’s nothing to see.

The only way to disprove people who think that Covid was hysteria is to go back in time, not to do anything, and let the virus ravage society. Obviously that’s not going to happen.

Both examples seem to have met with scepticism to ‘experts’ who are distrusted by random people who think that their opinion is if equal merit. It’s not.

I met loads of people with covid, they all felt grotty for a few days. I just don't see that the lockdowns were justified.

Do you always need to insult people ypu disagree with? Does that make you feel more correct?

You’re talking bollox.
Had Covid before the vaccines and can assure you that it was a feckin sight worse than a sniffle fella.
Had it again about a month ago and, yes, a couple of days of feeling rough, but we’re three years down the line living with the virus now.

We have no village green, or a shop. It's very, very quiet. I can walk to the pub.

Same here. I had it and it completely floored me. I've never felt so ill in my life.

My wife's a nurse and she had a completely different experience of the pandemic to the one this plank is peddling.

The flu will also “floor” you, but the world doesn’t grind to a halt because people are dying of flu.
My daughter is also a nurse at a local hospital, she agrees that it was a massive over reaction to virus that was predominantly bad news to those aged 82 or over.

Y2K bug is actually a fairly incredible example of us recognising a serious issue, working out how to fix it, and doing so within the time limit.

Amusingly we have another date-related issue coming up in 2038.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Year_2038_problem

And then after that, probably even more.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_formatting_and_storage_bugs

I hate dates and times, they are an absolute nightmare to program for.

It's almost like anecdotal evidence shouldn't be used to decide how bad something was on a national or global scale.

Back to give us some more wisdom on covid I see - your "sheep, baa, baa" rant last week was embarrassing.

Would also be nice if you stopped the flu and covid false equivalence, something I thought we had seen the back of years ago and not something I'm particularly keen to go over again.

Your last paragraph is an appeal to authority fallacy.

Some people say they have the flu when in reality they have a bad cold, the flu will knock you sideways for 2 weeks, you can’t get out of bed, you feel knackered for weeks afterwards, are you spotting any similarities ?

I know what real flu is. I had it. Hence I added "proper flu" so you wouldn't get confused. And yet here we are. Take your playground retorts somewhere else you ridiculous conspiracy theorist.

People certainly made a lot of money from it. People in a position to do profiteer from every major disruptive event, such as wars, major political events, and yes even pandemics. It doesn't mean the triggering event didn't happen.

But then I'm not sure whether you're being serious or this is just a wind up.

Exactly. This does a decent job of talking through why:

https://ourworldindata.org/influenza-deaths

Comparing Covid and Flu is fairly facile, obviously. Were are just lucky that the scientific community's ability to mobilise against it is so much greater in 2020 than it would have been even 20 years previous.
