Well this has blown up. Mrs Swanners just mentioned it to me, so obviously I came on here for the news.
What a humungous clusterfu*k the BBC have made of this. They could have released a statement saying something along the lines of ‘we are aware of Linekers’s comments, and whilst we don’t condone them because we are an impartial broadcaster our presenters are free to express their own views in their own time’. Job done.
They haven’t, because one can only assume this is political and the screws have been applied from the top (their Tory backgrounded and still connected top). |  |
