I was annoyed at the ridiculous protesting about their player being banned for elbowing Burns just because it was on a fan's phone. Doesn't matter how it was caught, it was caught. Clear as day. And ultimately they were lucky he wasn't specifically spotted on the day and thus they weren't reduced to 10 men on the day.
HOWEVER, any other season 96 points would've been enough to comfortably win automatic promotion and Darren Moore is an extremely likeable guy and talented manager who deserves this.
Sad though for Barnsley fans who I still have fond regard for since the 2000 play-off final. [Post edited 29 May 2023 20:32]

Arrogance? I’d say a small percentage amongst fans of clubs that have been through the wringer over the years.
I don’t think there will be any rubbish rivalry with Argyle and Wednesday. The battle is over. Intriguing, points wise ridiculous but neither are our rivals and the same applies to them.

They have one of the nicest men in football at the helm, play some of the ugliest football, in the most most effective way, with some deluded fans.
That sums them up for me.
Having said that, they were incredibly effective in L1 and deserved promotion over a season - may well struggle with that style against better quality opposition though. |

It’s how they cheated us out of a win twice this season. Literally bullied the officials at their place when Smith was 75 yards offside and got away with assault on Burns at ours which should have resulted in 10 men.
Other than that they play a horrendous brand of football. Like when we got results under MM. Today they almost went an entire 90 against 10 men without scoring.

Regarding their fans, its a minority of idiots, same as we have.

i suppose it may have been the way the linesman was treated in our game at their place *. he was scared to give off side. got away with a sending off at our place. also i think the linesman was drop kicked at the end of the game against peterborough also most town fans like barnsley after the way their fans behaved after our wembly win against them

It's a comment by a Town fan to Town fans of course, and he's possibly not the poster we'd send on a diplomatic mission to your forum; nor would any of the handful of commenters on this Wednesday thread likely be, me included!
However, your trophies are from before your oldest fans were born. You've forgotten Sir Alf but, in fairness, most aren't old enough to have lived through him now either. What scuppered it for Wednesday in hindsight is when more clubs decided to play professional football. We're proud of our European history and you don't really have one, yet you're in good company there and much of our country is anti-Europe these days too. Our achievements are from before half of us were born, which isn't hugely better is it?

Ive said elsewhere, I’ve always felt Wednesday are the classic, physical, bullying league one side. There’s little finesse about them and even less pure football. I know it’s often said you make your own luck in the game, but bloody hell, they’ve had luck in spades this season. Even in the bloody PO final!! I think they’ll struggle in the Championship ( I certainly hope they do now there’s so much about their players and fans that leave a sour taste in the mouth). I’ve gone totally off them as a club. | |
