We won the UEFA Cup. Today’s equivalent is the UEFA Europa League. Last night’s game, Europa Conference League, is a level below. As someone pointed out on another thread, it’s the intertoto Cup. Nowhere near as prestigious as our 1981 achievement.

I think that it is a very worthy European trophy and would love to see Ipswich win it, there is much more to big European nights than The Champions League, the CL is not the only competition worth winning, it is easy to laugh at it, but it is great to widen the european football experience to many more clubs, not just the so called "big clubs". |
I'd love to see a European Cup competition modelled on the FA Cup. Open to all clubs above a certain level rather than being dependent on league position in the top tier. Early qualifying rounds for lower league teams. Single legs with random draws.
An opportunity for League One or Two teams to have a European fixture or even go on a 'giant' killing run. Can you imagine Madrid or PSG getting drawn away at Fleetwood in the equalivalent of the FA Cup 3rd Round - it would be immense! |  |

This has to be a troll because the conference league looks amazing to me. Travelling round Europe to grounds you wouldn't go to for any other reason, competitive knockout football and then to win it, looks amazing. Would be quality.

We should have been as we were a terribly run football club, with players not good enough for the championship. We didn’t deserve to be in the championship, therefore deserved to be in L1 | |
