There was a player in the Burley pre-promotion years who I can't remember if they were a loan or a short term contract. Either way, they were awful and the players actively avoided passing the ball to him, my mind says Abou - but that probably is just because we always sounded like we were booing him that it gets muddled in to the thought process. You could probably make an XI of terrible Man U loans alone - anyone remember Michael Clegg?
I remember he'd had a piece in the 442(I think) 'boy's a bit special' feature where they talked to upcoming young players and I was quite excited to see him turn up.
And then I actually saw him play.

Abou scored a goal at Bramhall Lane, which in the 90s should be taken as mitigating any assessment of that loan (we won 2-1 with a last minute goal but think he scored the first). |  |

He did some truly awful things on the pitch, but his embarrassed smile and wave after his corner and celebrating the way he did in the cup will always leave me fondly remembering him. |  |

Not only was he useless, that we were taking Preston cast offs on loan really hammered home how far we had fallen.
It was when we signed Harrop that I realised that league one might not just be a temporary blip and a chance to rebuild, but was in fact where we wre doomed to be.
