Ipswich have €22m bid turned down - Fotis Ioannidis 14:54 - Jun 15 with 49697 views | burnbudgiesburn | Greek journo Whats that? £18.5m? Looks like a higher level George Hirst so stylistically would have fit but you never know if Towns name is gonna be linked by agents to bump the price or if its genuine. Take on Giannis at your peril❗Man lives in the crawl spaces and boardroom walls of Greek clubs during transfer season. Will we go again is probably the more pertinent question. 🤔

Ipswich have €22m bid turned down - Fotis Ioannidis on 22:02 - Jun 15 by ipswichtillidie | Who are you to say I’m wrong. Didn’t say we will sign 5 players at 20m but it wouldnt surprise me if we had a couple around that value. |
I can and I have. I disagree with you. You said.... "I agree. People need to get in their heads we won’t be signing players for 1-2m. 20m for a player at premier league level is your bang average." I said I believe you are wrong. I believe - We will sign players on free transfers as well as pick up some for low single figure millions - We will spend more on other players, we may go to £15 on a marquee signing - We will not be splashing the cash on transfer fees, ike many fans seem to think (£20m for a player at premier league level is your bang average).. Overall, I would expect us to sign 10 players this window, and we will spend around £60m on transfer fees.

Surely it's better to spend £20m on a given player if his wages are in line with what we're paying... We could do it the other way, bring in someone of quality on a free but offer him a significant salary, but that would go against everything that we do and brings real problems if it doesn't work out..

No you stated I was wrong. You didn’t state you believed I was, which is very different. Of course it’s all opinions and i respect people’s views but to categorically state someone is wrong when you know absolutely nothing about the clubs transfer policy. I suspect and I’ve said in other threads we will possibly sign 8-10 players so I agree with you there. The fees and how they are spread around nobody knows. I suspect we may well spend in access of 20m on a striker in particular because they come at a premium. Frees and two loans is a real potential two given the amount of players we need.

Cleary both are opinions. You were adamant that Town fans are wrong to think we will spend £1-2m on player and that £20m is the going rate for a PL player. I disagree with both points. I expect us to sign some PL players who are out of contract. We have been linked with Sessegnon and Tssanga (sp?), both of whom would not cost a fee. There will likely be others we would consider. Callum Hudson Odoi joined Forest from Chelsea for £3m. The reason for the low fee was he was on a £6m per season contract. Fans need to remember that it is total investment - transfer fee, signing on bonus, and wages that matter. Mbappe signed for RM on a free transfer. He did cost a £100m signing on fee and big wages. That is a free transfer we cannot afford. We also cannot afford to spend £20m+ on a single player, which is why we have gone cold on Omari. Which is why I think you are wrong with your assertion. Again you said “we will be signing players for low fees. 1-2m. You know that factually do you? Who exactly are we going to get for 1-2m to play in the premier league? Wouldn’t have thought we will take too many punts like that tbh. Not saying you’re wrong like you are me but that’s the difference between you and me. Enjoy your evening.

Looks a perfect replacement for Gyokeres. I wonder if we are trying to get in early and strike a deal before Sporting manage to sell him as if it is a choice between here and Sporting then it is hard to see us winning that one.

Premiership, Top Coach, potentially higher wage and profile and who wouldn't want to live in Suffolk (says the man in Sunny Hawke's Bay)

Sporting - top coach, Champions League football, chance to win the Portuguese league, playing with better players, great shop window for bigger European clubs (as Gyokeres has shown). Hope I am wrong but we will do remarkably well to get him IMO.

Yep, can look at how players from that league have fared moving over though as a bit more relevant

If that’s his choice you’d think the pull of PL football would sway it in our favour?! That’s not being big headed, but one decent season in the PL and he could get a massive move to a top 6/7 team

Seems has been reported in various places in Greece, presumably the language and alphabet has meant other stories haven't spread. We do have Greek speakers on here - I remember the night of the 2004 Euros final - so perhaps they may find other stories.

Let's say they're happy to deal at €25m... That's £21m. Amortise that over five seasons, that's £4m a year for P&S, right?
