Which 'Portillo Moment' Are You Most Hoping For... on 14:58 - Jun 21 by bluelagos | Makes me laugh when commentators say 150 Tories would be better for democracy than 50. Nope, still 49 too many for me. |
Which one of them would you keep?

Chloe Smith? (She comes across as almost reasonable, though am sure her voting record will be true blue given she was a minister) I think she's maybe standing down. not sure.

Which 'Portillo Moment' Are You Most Hoping For... on 16:54 - Jun 21 with 1428 views | NBVJohn | Not seismic enough to be a Portillo moment but my local MP is the odious Tory MP of the year Dr Luke Evans. Much to my annoyance the local Lib Dems are probably right that Labour can’t really win here; many would vote for Ghengis Khan if he wore a blue rosette. It would be wonderful to see the smug smile wiped off his face though.

Given her football allegiance I am sure she’d just be delighted to participate with them if they’ll take her.

Which 'Portillo Moment' Are You Most Hoping For... on 16:25 - Jun 21 by pointofblue | The more Conservatives who lose the seats, the more likely quite a few will go to Reform. Even after the last 14 years, I’m not convinced that’s a good thing. |
If Reform take a seat or two then maybe during the next parliament they'll merge with the tories under Farage's leadership. He is very popular with a lot of their traditional support plus many in the red wall who dislike Rodney almost as much as they detested Corbyn.

The tory vote needs splitting. If Con and Reform want to fight over those voters ( you know who they are ) then it's a win for normal people.

Sadly Chloe Smith isn’t standing. Pity really as it was lovely seeing her mauled on Newsnight a few years back. Standing in her place as the Tory candidate is one Charlotte Dominique Salomon who, according to my voting paper, has an address in Harlow. So local then. Also appears to be an extra on Made in Chelsea if her photo is anything to go by. Will be a close call here. Fingers crossed though

Given the historical popularity of the Conservatives, I am not sure the definition of normal people is what you think it is in this country. Sadly.

Which 'Portillo Moment' Are You Most Hoping For... on 16:35 - Jun 21 by Ftnfwest | To have all opposition obliterated would be great, no pointless debates about anything |
I know it's only joking, but there have been council elections where every seat has been won by the same party. I've been a co-opted member of a committee for a council where the opposition only had two seats, and there was genuine debate and challenge to the cabinet at the meetings by the councillors from the same party. The chair apparently used to get regular böllockings from the leader for asking awkward questions at committee meetings. Back to the topic at hand, an outcome I'd be pleased with is a Labour victory but Starmer losing his seat. At least as long as it didn't mean Wes Streeting becoming leader... Should go without saying that I would like the Tories to lose every seat – a total wipeout would be the least they deserve for the last 14 years. I think the tone of British politics would be vastly improved by the SNP or Lib Dems being the main opposition.

How she’s been able to get away with that staggering act of economic vandalism is beyond me. She and he IEA loons should be up before a judge. It’s ridiculous that they’re untouchable. It’s not as if it was an accident either. It was wilful negligence.
