I feel like Blackburn may have backed themselves into a corner. They've publicly slapped a £20m price tag on SS. If they had absolutely zero intention of selling, that would be fine because it's too high for any sensible club to pay and sends a good message to their fans.
If they sell him though (and leaving him out of sides suggests they may), then they need to get close to their public valuation or they will look to their fan base like we've had their trousers down. |

I'm really not in the know but shirley the only thing we do know is that we're not "a long way apart" as we would have walked away if that was the case. I would absolutely love him to play for us this season but yes this is dragging on too long. Can only assume he's our first choice for his position but also working on Plan Bs. Struggle to think at this stage, after multiple weeks on the deal we are way apart in valuations, otherwise I can't think we'd still be pursuing him.
I like SS a lot, think he's a really good player, £6m looked a bit of deal, £8m seemed the fair price, £12m+ it's getting expensive.
What Blackburn want is silly, and if they genuinely won't move, we have to move on.
Really have to start getting some deals finalised now, minimum 2 CM, LAM, ST, possibly a versatile attacking man who can cover multiple front positions. In my opinion we still need a top RCB as well. |  | | |

I really don't think its a matter of moving on as I'm sure our guys are exploring multiple options whilst this is going on. at the same time. I'm sure that MA & KM have a time in mind after which they'll say - 'OK leave that one, lets go with one we know we can go with'.
Business hasn't been bad this summer has it; we've got some quality in so far. I'd be very surprised if we don;t utilise the 2 loans available to us. What wouldn't surprise me is if we start the season with the squad we have if it means getting the right players in a couple of weeks late. |  |

Might be wrong, but believe we offered 8 m plus add on's taking it to 10 mill and they want 20 million, which if true is absurd. Absolutely no way he will score 30 odd goals in the Prem and isn't he around 27 years of age ? Think you need a player who you can give a minimum of 3 years and at 20 million even four years. McKenna has said there's other negotiations going on. Hopefully one's that encompass Ssmodics position so we can tell them where to go if it's deemed they want too much and doesn't leave us enough time to sort out an alternative. |

Pretty sure we’re doing that. Will be loads of irons in the fire. Long term if we get SS today, next Tuesday or the following Wednesday it won’t really matter - if that is who we think is best for the role we’re trying to recruit for it makes sense to bide our time, as frustrating as that might seem today. | | | |
