Mine; Laura Kenny’s thighs

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!
Poll: With Evans taking 65% in Huddersfield, is the Banter Era over?

This isn't the 1970s!!

I can't believe people still say things like that in 2024!!!

The closing ceremony.
(Oops. rather jumped the gun there.)

First it was Wimbledon, then bloody athletics.
I demand Pointless and Richard Osmans House of Games be reinstated in their normal time slots forthwith.

Don't believe a word I say. I'm only kidding. Or am I?

Breakdancing, BMX Freestyle and laughing at Paris for making triathlon athletes ill, in their, frankly, 'inseine' attempt to get the river safely swimmable.

Oh, and a special mention to the DJ at the women's beach volleyball final, when it threatened to boil over, deciding to play Imagine by John Lennon in between points, which made all 4 players laugh and relax. Top effort!

I will give a sensible answer. Keely Hodgkinson's excellent 800 metres win. She is only 22 and has a good chance of breaking the very dodgy 800 metres world record in the coming years.

Watching Team USA winning gold after gold after gold in the Athletics. Utterly dominant in it.

Seriously, nobody questioning this, all seems a bit East Germany to me. Suspect the Chinese instead though.

Andy Murray and Dan Evans celebrating their win against the Belgian pair in the second round of the men's doubles.

Just pure, unfiltered joy from them both.

I don't question the US Athletics Team as a whole. The training facilities etc they have are far beyond what any other country has and their college system improves young athetes. None of the performances of their athletes produced out of this world performances. There is of course that an odd athlete may be doping of course.

The sport climbing was amazing & had me totally hooked in minutes, on a day when I had a lot of other things that I should have been doing.

That is actually a better percentage than the East Germans managed to achieve during their time.

Finally understanding surfing..the rules anyway not the "life" and enjoying it and for the first time ever not finding the race walking funny, actually seeing beyond the waddling/mincing.
lowlight...no matter how much it's spun it has been a poor olympics medalwise for team UK...even if they beat their all time medal haul (which will be one of the spins if they do it.)

Femke Bol's amazing final leg in the mixed 400m relay. An insane time of 47.9. Just a shame we didn't get to see a proper showdown between her and Sydney Mcglaughlin-Levrone over the 400 flat.

1. Watching Alex Yee blast past the opposition in the final straight after two hours of turd swimming, pedalling and running.
2. Rock climbing. It was exciting. How do they do that?
3. Watching people do a hand stand on the edge of a 10 metre diving board. Dear god. Taking a running jump off one was scary enough.
4. The bravery of Sky Brown competing after a dislocated shoulder and a knee ligament injury.
5. The rowing team. Exceptional.

Lowlights:
1. Break dancing. Why?
2. Tha mouth of the runner Josh Kerr. I was glad when the American motored by him and Ingebrigtsen. He looked like he’d had a glass of Seine water.
3. Having sports that should never be part of the Olympics like basketball, golf, football and tennis.

Breakdancing is no less an Olympic sport than gymnastic floor dance events, imo.

Agree about golf/tennis/football not being in it though, there are plenty of events covering those sports every year.

This..
Whilst we're happy pick up bronzes or qualifying (all of which are still great achievements) USA are brought up with that winning mentality.. gold or nothing.. hence the college programs and facilities.

For me as so.eone else mentioned Keely Hodgkinsons 800m

Absolutely agree. Add in synchronised swimming to the ‘why?’ List.

Another lowlight is drug abuse and the acceptance of it.

Before Tokyo, 23 Chinese swimmers were kicked out for doping offences. 11 competed in Paris and they had their most successful games in the pool in years. We all know how and why but nobody dare hold a conversation on it.

I bet the Chinese weren’t the only ones ‘upping their gas’ either. But I always get the impression from the Olympic bods and oily people like Coe that the image of the sport is more important than drug scandals and fairness so it gets brushed under the carpet with greasy smiles.

Such a shame for those that compete ‘clean’.
