So many of the current squad have shown good moments really. Even ones like Chaplin and Burgess who'd barely had a look in a few weeks back have suddenly very much looked the part.
Only real contenders would be Walton, H Clarke, Luongo, Broadhead and Al Hamadi to be replaced with players of a higher calibre.
Everyone else likely to play a part really. Taylor was looking much better a few weeks back too before being replaced.
Seem to be far fewer candidates that we've been used to for the next stage of the building process where there have always been 6, 7, 8 players well below the rest and due to be upgraded. |  | | |  |

Broadhead looks the obvious choice, unfortunately. I think there has to have been some crossed words. Then his old dear getting involved on Twitter was not a good look either.
You do have to worry about Broady's physicality for the Prem. Jack Clarke has struggled with it so I can only imagine how Broady would fare, as gut wrenching as that is.
I'd suggest Broady and AAH are probably the most likely to at least be loaned out and replaced for the second half of the season. | | | |

Definitely need another no 9 anything happens to Delap or Hirst and we are in trouble, it’s a pivotal and very physically demanding role.
Maybe upgrade for Luongo but not essential as covered quite wel. |  |

I think Broadhead has suffered from not being bought for £15m to be honest. Seems pretty harsh to me that he's not been given a minute of PL football so far this season. Especially as Clarke has delivered very little, not looked a natural fit in that left 10 role and seems to have the same 'physical issues' people lay at Broadhead's door. But the new, expensive signing will always be given a chance to play their way into some form. | | | |

I can't see any obvious and realistic upgrades to the first team, what we've needed is the summer intake bedding in and settling which they seem to be doing now. Might be a quiet and inexpensive window in terms of players coming in. So yes seeing our fringe players go out seems more likely, with any replacements being designed to add depth rather than big name starters.
But what do I know - Super KM knows what we need.

Last time I went to the bank to cash in my uppies they told me they held no real world value.

Nobody is saying we can't make upgrades. Our top scorer is a guy that Man City didn't even want as a backup. But we won't be replacing any of our key players or any of our new signings realistically so that leaves a very small pool of players we'd look to replace in the registered squad. | | | |

Thing is, they'd have to be replaced with players of higher calibre than the current starters, to make it worthwhile spending the money.
I'm not convinced that, having just got to the point of a settled team functioning well (presuming the current trend continues), we would want to upset that with many more additions. One or two, if any, for me. |  |

Given the length of time it seems to take some foreign players to adapt to the Prem you wonder whether we might be looking at getting someone in who might be considered a bench player now but a regular starter/upgrade by the end of the season/beginning of next. | |

I think I'd be going all out for Evan Ferguson on loan as one of the upgrades.
Probably ok as a backline if Axel is now good to go, with him and Johnson both looking good yesterday.
I think we've looked lean in central midfield so possible to bolster there, and I think if a sprinkling of quality can be added behind the forward you'd look to do it.

Who do you think is saying Delap isn't capable, and Hirst isn't viable? The reality is though that if one of them gets injured, as Hirst may be AAH is not playable at the moment, and we were trying to get Broja in right till the last gasp. Which also allows Delap to play out wide, where we've just lost a starter for the season. | | | |

We still have the same issue we had at the start of the season - even if we can get bids accepted for first team starters, if they're any good we are competing with other prem teams which will be a more attractive prospect for said player. | |

agreed, well capable of doing a job but we were after one already, Ogbene is out for the season so i can see a situation where Delay is used wide right as Burns hasnt stepped up so far and has had a few injuries in the last 6 months. Might only be a loan signing but for the greater benefit of the squad i can see something happening there. | | | |

Don't disagree that he will probably get there. And he does give us the option to play with a proper winger down that side if needed. We look far better with Szmodics playing that role because he has the same goal scoring instincts and positional sense in the 10 as Broadhead but with the PL physicality. I think Clarke will come into his own when we're playing the teams around us in the bottom six. Especially in the home games and even more so if we're defending a lead as he's dangerous on the counter with his directness and dribbling ability. Broady has a little bit of all of that, but not on the same scale IMO. | | | |

My thought is that it is going to be challenging to stay within FFP guidelines to purchase players which offer a significant improvement, and that with both loan spots full, bringing someone in on loan would require Phillips or Cajuste leaving as my understanding (which may be wrong) is that we are limited to only 2 loan signings at any one time, and 4 in total over the course of the season. |  | | |

Muric has made some absolutely massive saves, but he doesn’t always instil confidence. Yesterday was a perfect example…

Dropping the ball down to his feet with Son just behind him
