Anyone want some delap def info ? 10:34 - Nov 26 with 16845 views | The_Romford_Blue | The buyback situation is far better for us than we all thought. It’s only that city have the first option to match any bids we receive. There’s no specific fee set for them to have him back on the cheap. It’s just that they can match whatever someone like Chelsea offer. They have a few days to react to the bid that we must disclose to them. Found out on Sunday. Good news.

Think we can comfortably expect £60m, and ideally more. One think we are all gonna have to get used to is waving these lads goodbye, and trusting that the club and the system will continue to unearth similar gems. Absolutely nobody is irreplaceable - just look at Brighton.

Wouldn’t be so sure of that unless he does a Mcauley Bonne form reversal He's already proved he can score goals at this level, has terrorised quality centre half's, seems to have a great attitude and is a physical rock, are there any 21 year olds even close to him. He is the center foward equivalent to Kevin Beattie We won't sell though [Post edited 26 Nov 2024 13:14]

Anyone want some delap def info ? on 13:13 - Nov 26 with 2399 views | SomethingBlue | This does not surprise me at all, straight-up buybacks are really rare in UK market. Ashton also sounded especially confident that we’ll one day get our money’s worth when he answered re this topic.

Anyone want some delap def info ? on 13:16 - Nov 26 with 2352 views | OldFart71 | I suspect it is down to what type of club Town see themselves as. Obviously we are not a top club and in reality never will be. But if we stay in the Prem and develop the ground to say 40,000 then will certainly won't be a small club either. If we want to be a club that remains for many years in the Premier League then players like Delap and Hutchinson cannot be allowed to go unless stupid money is offered which not only allows us to replace, but also to strengthen other areas of the team.

I reckon Liverpool will be in for him just as soon as they can offload Nunez

Anyone want some delap def info ? on 13:19 - Nov 26 with 2324 views | HighgateBlue | Yeah, funnily enough I didn't believe the Express. I think most of us know not to believe total speculation from rags and gossip-mongers about clauses in detailed commercial contracts which probably wouldn't be understood by the third rate journalists and internet trolls even if they had read the contract, which they clearly haven't. The idea that we would pay somewhere approaching £20m for a young an inexperienced player and include an option for the selling club to buy back at a very modest profit (or even at the same price) is, and always was, totally laughable.

If he’s rated as highly as the commentators were suggesting (Kane replacement etc), then he will be on the radar of all the top clubs. Fee? Who knows what that is? But looking at the cost of the Man U players shining their rear ends on the figurative bench (£240m) for example, I can see no reason for little Ipswich to get mugged off as they once were by a certain Mr Ashton for a certain centre half. The Premier League is awash with money at the top end and the rules are for chumps. He’s on a long contract and even if we fail to stay up, we will not be in fire sale territory, as far as I’m aware. I could quite easily see him moving on for an eye watering sum at some point in the future.

It's worth putting into perspective that at £100million, he'd squeak into the top 10 most expensive players of all time. Bellingham, who at that time had spent 3 seasons playing in the Bundesliga, was not that expensive for Madrid. I think people are right to say we'd probably accept £100million. Yep, that's why I said any time soon. Grealish and Rice are the only 2 English players to be sold for £100m or more and both were very well established premier league players and England internationals Maybe a couple of season of 15 goals plus here might see the value get towards £100m but it certainly isn't happening in January or next summer

The two big names at the time was Ward Prowse on loan but he went to Forest and an even bigger name striker that seems pointless me even saying as it’s so unbelievably unlikely. Although we definitely did contact the agent who affectively laughed at us |

Going to guess at Callum Wilson on this. Almost wish it hadn't been brought up because now I can't stop wondering

Anyone want some delap def info ? on 14:07 - Nov 26 with 1997 views | Len_Brennan | For anyone who thinks that his value isn't north of £40m already, we have to look at Evan Ferguson who was being viewed as a £100m striker 18 months ago, when in my opinion, he hadn't been any more impressive than Delap has been in the last 11 games. It's not just the general inflation of fees we are looking at, it's age, nationality, our non-need to sell, plus the sheer lack of comparable centre forwards in the Premier League (or top European leagues). Every one of the top clubs, incl. Man Utd, would love to have a centre forward like him, both for the goal threat he brings himself, & also for the space & defensive chaos he could create for the Salahs, Sons, Sakas etc around him. There is even an argument to suggest that he better fits the profile of centre forward that Pep would want, working in a team with their other forwards, than the more goal machine striker that they have in Haaland. Ferguson did look good when he first game into the side. If I remember correctly a lot of his appearances we a sub? Did anyone ever actually bid for him. As you say the rumour was Brighton wanted £100m. However, he's ultimately only worth what someone will pay. Delap is certainly on the way but I'm thinking there's now way anyone bids near £100m in January and hence, he'll stay here for the season at least.

Martial. Albeit it got nowhere at al. Edit - and yes know it sounds mental but all I know is we enquired. They didn’t really even entertain it (the agent mainly). I didn’t want to name him at the time as it almost sounds too ridiculous to be true and I didn’t want to become a meme on twitter [Post edited 26 Nov 2024 14:39]

When it was looking less and less likely that Martial was going to get a premier league gig I did wonder whether it would be worth enquiring. No disrespect to AEK Athens, but I'd have thought staying in the EPL, even at a club in a relegation battle, would have been a better career move

No. Many were led to believe by the likes of Fabrizio Romano for example that we had a number in place with city that we had to agree to no matter what happens. That is untrue

If there is a Jan bid. I reckon it'll be around £50 million. Would town accept that I don't know. That's a big wedge and a massive profit in the space of 6 months. Add a high sell on fee and it could be very rewarding. Likewise however keeping him until summer. I think you'd still be able to get that if we went down so I reckon we will hold out until summer.
