Rumoured to be having a medical at West Brom today. Does that mean we’ve got somebody lined up?

Despite seeing how much he’s struggled, would be a huge gamble going into the final part of the season with just Delap and Hirst as our strikers.

If the rumour is true (and Szmodics currently injured, albeit short-term), I very much doubt we would have left ourselves with no cover in such a crucial area.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

Potential for a permanent deal too from a couple of whispers I've heard.

We loaned out Ladapo at start of window last season and waited weeks for a replacement to sign and we didn't even have a striker fit and muddled through with Jackson and Broadhead up top.

So if Ali is seen as so far off the level required, which isn't a particularly out there view point at the moment, then we just get best deal for him as and when we can which may be now (on permanent or loan) and then deal with it from there

Maja is out for several weeks so can see this happening. Hopefully he gets plenty of minutes.

I don't think it'll make much of a difference with regards to an incoming. He didn't make the bench Sunday, and as long as Hirst doesn't get injured this week, he probably wouldn't make the bench again this weekend either.

Interesting!

Wonder what sort of level we’ll be shopping at…understudy to Hirst or upgrade on Hirst.

And even when he does get on, it'd be better with us playing Smodics, Chappers or Broady up top, sadly.

I hope he can get loads of game time wherever he ends up and gets his mojo back.

A bit like not putting CBs on the bench, we’ll never have 2 CFs on the bench.

Hirst is back, so Ali is surplus providing no injuries in the next couple weeks (assuming a 3rd CF does come in).

Has to be an upgrade.

I’d hope so. Shame to push Hirst back to the third choice but I think it’s probably a necessity (and I bloody love Hirst too)

I think your proviso is far too large based on the first half of the season. We've been very fortunate that Delap has stayed broadly fit but we need a third option.

Makes sense with him not being up to the required level, but still think it would be a massive gamble relying on Delap and Hirst staying fit for the remainder of the season. (Both have been well known to have injury problems in the past).

100% he won't leave unless another striker comes in, so, as you suggest, either the rumour is false or we're signing someone. Probably the former.

Hope it’s true, whilst I feel sorry for the lad who probably has potential he isn’t good enough for the premier league and also at least all his countrymen ’fans’ will all naff off!

That was quick-moving. Must have someone coming in then. Only other option I can think of is that McKenna's opinion of Al-Hamadi adapting to the Premier League has decreased since August.

Because we've seen he is just so far off the level since then and he just won't play any more even if one of our current options was injured

It's been needs must to involve him at all, the lad clearly needs sustained minutes at Championship level and good luck to him. Some of the focus on him over the last couple of weeks has been a little unseemly.

Mogga and WBA will be good for Ali. I'd prefer a loan, as I think Ali has potential given another year to 18 months playing competitively at the right level (top end of the Championship).

I don't see there being any chance of Ali moving unless we're close to getting another Striker in. Ben Doak please If a possibility, will need to happen before the end of this weekend.

I'm sure they're confident of getting someone else is, perhaps not precisely who yet. Last year Ladapo was allowed to move at this point without a replacement having been firmed up.

Few things have gone through my head…

- he’s experienced training that he’ll likely never experience again, and he’s not improved at all.
- maybe we should have loaned him out at the start of the season regardless of having a third striker
- (as Joe has said) I don’t even think him going means we have someone lined up, I think they’ve all sat down and realised he’s miles off what we need, so we are better off playing a number of players ahead of him (in a position they might not be familiar with - which speaks volumes)
- hope it works out for him, but doubt he’ll achieve anything at championship level.
- happy I wont see him play for us again
