but I thought Hutchinson, Enciso, Philogene and to a lesser extent Delap were very wasteful with the ball today, tried to do too much themselves when team mates were available and ultimately turning the ball over.

Equally, we don't hold the ball in midfield well enough way too many turnovers from Morsy in particular.

Delap started badly in possession but from midway through the first half started to use the ball better and spread it around. It didn't help he was being rugby tackled every time he was challenging for the ball.

I like the look of Enciso but agree, so wasteful alongside Hutchinson and Philogene. Sadly their selfishness cost us.

Sounded on Suffolk commentary like Delap was selfish when he scored.

I guess it's about decision making and getting it right in the moment.

Hopefully today was just a poor day at the office.

That's very harsh on Delap, he played a number of nice passes including an incredible through ball to Broadhead with the outside of his right foot.

I agree, at least with Delap there’s some end product. Enciso was ambitious but didn’t deliver much of worth, should have come off after his dive. Hutch keeps the ball too long, and we end up worse for it, and Jayden was ineffective when on. Midfield is far too slow for this league and needs too many touches. We haven’t learnt very much.

We haven’t recruited as well as we had hoped overall I guess. Back to the drawing board next season, probably with a new manager.

Individual players taking personal responsibility when what we need is for them to play as a team.

Too many wrong decisions bring made on field.

Time for McKenna to man up, big apology needed he isn’t getting it right.

Let’s not make too many changes agsinst Coventry and use it as an opportunity to start getting it right.

I don't agree with Delap at all, and think that's a by harsh on Enciso.

Hutchinson on the other hand looks shot, no confidence at all and currently offering us zero end product.

Thought Morsy was okay today.

The decision making when we attacked was terrible. We looked like a team that has been playing a low block for the past month and forgotten how to attack. Morsy looks shot to me now. He looked good earlier on the season, but today was a game he should be dominating and he was going backwards most of the time.

That said we were better side by far and it was a somewhat Maidstonesque win for Southampton.

Thought Delap put in a fantastic performance. Held the ball well, close control drove at the defence, took the goal really well, won free kicks. There is lots to be critical about, Delap was pretty much the only positive. If Tuchel was watching that I'd imagine he would have been very impressed.

Enciso was lively, Cajuste was terrific, Delap at his moments of good and bad, but overall looked like we lack the real PL quality, which has been a theme throughout the season - there’s no surprise in that.

Yeah really not sure what has happened to our attacking play since the early part of the season. Imo we just look hesitant in the final third and invariably make the wrong decision. Whilst playing against Villa, Fulham and Leicester, for example, we looked much more decisive and threatening when we moved through the thirds. Is it just a confidence issue or something else because to my eye it sure looks like we have regressed.

That seems to be more like the match I watched.

Delap was very good. Enciso tried a bit too much at times but equally he looked like he wanted to make things happen and take some initiative. Didn’t really happen today for Omari and Philogene was pretty anonymous after coming on.

Most of our front line are very exciting but young and raw, and that really showed today. Needed a Chaplin or a Szmodics in there.

We can’t afford any more injuries so change is very much needed against Coventry.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see us play a very different 11 and end up being KO’d.

No. We need a confidence game ahead of playing Villa and Spurs.

There will be changes, but it'll be the likes of Philogene for Hutch, Phillips for Cajuste and Hirst for Delap, its hardly a massively weaker team.

Play Slickers, we may actually need him in the league if Muric gets injured, so he could do with the experience.

Yep that makes sense. How does Philogene look so far?
Making a difference or no real impact.

Agree with all except Delap. You’ll get that with young players - which is why it’s a worry we have so many of them.

Hutch has been very selfish for weeks - seems to have regressed into how he was when we first had him on loan.

Philogene has looked awful to be honest, not sure he actually wants to be here, just his agent wanted to bank another fee.

Fell into trying a bit too hard when it wasn't working today, which is natural when they're young and everyone knows we're desperate for points so want to make things happen.

On the midfield point it's a bit worrying for me (and has been for some time) how we stop being able to pass the ball through the middle of the pitch quickly once Cajuste tires. He's very good at setting a good rhythm and breaking the lines but once he starts to wane we're left with Morsy who's beginning to look like Jonathan Douglas how off the pace he is.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

In the first half I agree.

Much more selfish and wasteful in the second half. At one stage early in the second half he fashioned space for himself and could have played a 5 yard pass to Enciso on the edge of the box in acres of space but instead ran wide and shot from an angle he was never going to score from. From that point on the entire front four seemed to be trying to outdo each other in the selfishness stakes.

My hobbies include being quiet during trips, clapping with songs, and diabetes.
