RNLI have a duty of care to rescue ANYBODY in trouble at sea. That includes immigrants in small boats. They do a great job and risk their own lives to go out in dangerous conditions to rescue people. You can thank people like "do gooder" DadBehavingBadly fella for politicising them by raising funds for a lifeboat and wanting to call it the "Flying Farage". [Post edited 10 Feb 9:58]

This stems from a daily mail article in 2021 around the RNLI going into French waters to “pick up” migrants.
One comment in the comments section was I’m never donating to the RNLI again - 5200 upvotes.
People are as thick as mince and unfortunately easily taken in by articles in popular news outlets with an agenda to push. |  |

Despite raising a lot of money for that organisation I don’t think that DadbehavingBadly has the necessary influence to politicise the RNLI.
Farage and people like him, spur on their supporters to be critical of anyone who rescues migrants from the sea. And for clarity, it’s not just hate-preacher Farage but also newspapers like The Sun, Mail and Express etc. [Post edited 10 Feb 12:03]

It has and it disgusts me. What do people expect the RNLI to do?
I actually have ancestors who were lifeboatmen all the way back to the 19c and the earliest days of Beachmen. Two of them are remembered on the Caister memorial for those lost in the 1901 Beauchamp disaster.

Agree. But so-called do gooders like MBD also helped fan the flames by making a political point of the fund raising. The RNLI rightly declined his suggestion to name the new lifeboat The Flying Farage. | |

Of course they can choose to support or not. The point is they have basically expressed that saving lives of immigrants is a bad thing - as if these lives are worthless. I believe the Nazis had similar views regarding the Jews. I think such views should always be called out personally. | |

People arriving on small boats are often making the crossing because they've been made promises of a better life by unscrupulous and greedy conmen. The same reasons so many people voted for Brexit, in fact. Farage is one of the conmen, just like the people smugglers. | |
