As a no-longer working Royal don't see why he should be still be offered Royal protection (at the taxpayers expense may I add) https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cj45n9e29let

Or maybe he should start paying his own way in life like the rest of us have to!

He may already be doing so, given that the crown estate adds over £1BN per year to the public coffers. I’ve no idea about the bigger picture of their finances though. It does sound strange to step away from duties and expect to retain security. Maybe it’s normal and lots of the hanger-ones are getting security? They did mention something about 15 others who are getting security, but the names were redacted. But ultimately it does look like they’re taking the piss. I’m sure if they can settle a claim to protect a nonce they can afford a few coppers.

Does James Hewitt have that sort of money?

Man who stepped away from royal duties now bemoans not getting royal privileges on 17:47 - Apr 8 with 2168 views | Cheltenham_Blue | Anyone else find it peculiar that he feels he needs additional security when visiting the UK as he 'Wants his children to feel at home in the UK', but, he doesn't deem extra security necessary in their actual home of the US of A, which is arguably a far riskier place to live. Its almost as though he needs to stay relevant here for some reason.

He’s a bigger target here than in US largely because of his presence in The British Army. He’s a bit of a bullet magnet to be fair.

Not a good idea to have such a big forehead then if he's a bullet magnet. He should wear a hat.

I remember at the height of speculation about Diana the Sun or something similar printing a ruler so that readers could appreciate the size of his walloper.

Yep, gated communities in Montecito are proper dicey. You might even bump into Jennifer Aniston at the smoothie bar.

So, when he says “feel at home in the UK”, he actually means, in a house behind high walls and a security gate? Not wondering the streets of Toxteth? He should just make up with his Dad and Brother and stop with them.

So all he has to do is pay for private security instead, as the Don said when he took away the secret service privilege from a number of people in the US, he's got a good list of firms who c4an help.

They got millions from Netflix for a series that nobody watched. I think Netflix have since dropped them after looking at the viewing figures.

Man who stepped away from royal duties now bemoans not getting royal privileges on 09:48 - Apr 9 with 1131 views | Churchman | I get the Royals’ sense of entitlement and privilege. I understand plebs and patricians and that it is their right to have the best seat on the gravy train, paid for by ‘the rough’ (a Victorian term). I just don’t agree with it. Any of it. A head of state born into it is an anachronism. Unlike kings, queens and all that jazz of the past they don’t even have to work for it. There’s no chance of being killed, stripped and left naked on a bridge in Leicester, no alleged red hot poker up somewhere unpleasant (Edward 2nd - he was probably suffocated or strangled), no uber haircut outside the Banqueting House. Just gravy alllll the way. The traditions are mostly Victorian too. Created by Albert to stave off deep unpopularity of the monarchy. Yes, I know the alternative can result in a Trump, but all you need to do is have a strong enough Constitution to prevent that happening. As for Harry (he doesn’t half remind me of Hewitt), he’s opted out of doing anything beyond suiting himself so he can suit himself by paying for his own security. Why should you or I pay for it? He has chosen his life and with that, even for a man born into privilege and entitlement, there is a cost to bear. In other words - do one Harry.
