I have never understood when clubs boo their own players. He is their best local lad superstar since Gerrard, who they idolise despite him being apparently close to moving to Chelsea at the peak of his career. He didn’t and their fans idolise him as Mr Liverpool, presumably what they expected TAA to be as well. Football is a funny game. |  |

And if another clubs player ran down their contract to join them, they will be saying that that player is entitled to do so or that he’s showing ambition in joining them.

Dozzell left to join another club and so I don’t think that’s a similar situation. But Bobby Petta is and I remember a lot of the North Stand booing him when he was warming up (but a lot still cheered him). | | | |
