McKenna’s silence is deafening 10:27 - Jun 9 with 5673 viewsZonderman

Sadly I have to now conclude that KM will be leaving. Like Silva at Fulham he (or his very active agent) could have easily distanced himself from the Brentford job. In the absence at this point of any such statement it seems apparent that the move will happen and I can only hope it is a quick process which allows Town to appoint, settle, and get stuck into the meat and drink of a huge challenge this summer and next season.
I can’t kid myself that I will be absolutely gutted when KM moves on. He has given us such a fanatic spell and as disappointed as I will be, I will remain grateful for the memories he has given us.
It would have been fantastic to see him have a crack at getting us promoted again next term but he has already turned down great opportunities previously to stay and the only thing that will peeve me a bit will be the public declarations that he was staying which he could have done differently if he was clearly going to be open to Premier League approaches.
I do have every confidence that MA willhave had a watching brief on the managerial market which is very different to the dark days under Evans when we were a knackers yard for journeymen and has-beens.
Managers come and go but we remain and it’s vital that we don’t suffer protracted disruption so that we can collectively come together behind a new man and prepare for a crucial season in the Championship.

Why would he distance himself from a job that isn't even available?

Bizarre post.

My goodness this meltdown over imaginaries is bizarre. How do people like you survive day to day with just normal life?

I think I will log off TWTD until August as it's just unusable with all this guff

The last time he spoke about his future he said he would be managing us next season.

You’ve really outdone yourself here - this post reads like the internal monologue of a Victorian widow who’s just seen her husband board a ferry to Dieppe.

We’ve been here before, haven’t we? Last time everyone lost their minds because McKenna didn’t personally rent a blimp and skywrite “I’M STAYING LOL,” he ended up, y'know, staying. He’s not a vibesman - he only speaks when necessary, and even then you would need a codebreaker from Bletchley Park to interpret any subtext.

As for the “he could have ruled himself out” logic - come on pal. That’s not how this works. That’s how reality TV contestants announce they’re leaving Love Island. Kieran McKenna doesn’t rule himself out of anything. He calmly ghosts speculation into irrelevance like he’s just used Gegenpress on a rumour.

Last summer, one of the more unwell Town online bods - the lad who famously scrawled “MAGILTON OUT” on his own bedsheets - declared McKenna had “pulled our pants down.” Don’t be like him. Put your trousers back on and step away from the linen cupboard.

No, not at the moment

"I Kieran Mckenna am now distancing myself from a job that isn't available and I haven't even been offered"

See how silly that sounds.

Yes agree with everything you’ve said. Let’s just wind the club up now actually, before we fall into non league by 2030.

If we had to rerun some of the actual sagas (turnstile painting, watching the dvd, Carlos breastfeeding, Deputy Doig shouting at players in their pants, 5 year contracts on new year's Day etc etc) of the dark years with the current febrile state of the board, I shudder to think what would happen.

If McKenna reading this nonsense he might actually consider leaving.

It would be unprofessional to comment on a job opportunity which DOES NOT EVEN EXIST YET.

People need to get a grip.

Christ on a bike. I think I might avoid this place over the summer.

What a bizarre post.

McKenna committed himself to the club only a few weeks ago (early May as I recall). Yes, circumstances can change, and there are no guarantees. However, I see nothing much that has changed since he made that commitment - everyone knew that there would be vacancies through the summer, but KmK was very clear on his intent to manage us next season.

Do you really expect KmK and the club to respond to every rumour and piece of speculation that surfaces? How could he even in good conscience respond to a piece of media speculation that may have no substance? Any comment risks upsetting someone, and potentially feeds the trolls that fabricate the speculation 90% of the time.

You're going to have a very depressing summer if you react like this to every piece of speculation that affects Town.

Some people really need to take a mental break from football over the summer. Go on holiday, go hiking, watch cricket, play golf, go fishing, whatever takes your fancy. Just don't waste your time panicking about rumours and media speculation.

I haven't ruled myself out of the Brentford job, either. Reckon my employer is gonna be pissed off with me?

As an expert in overthinking and trying to work out every eventuality and possible scenario, I have to say, I think you need to take a breather. Loving the passion for ITFC and positivity, but nothing is decided and it's out of our hands as supporters. It'll be okay, enjoy your summer.

Why would he be distancing himself from a job which might be worth at least a look? Given there isn't yet a vacancy (don't expect Brentford are keen to lose Frank, neither is he the only candidate), I doubt terms and conditions are being circulated at this stage. It's something McKenna might want to weigh up before making a decision on whether he's even going for that position, let alone negotiating, getting and accepting an offer.

Brentford might decide they want someone else, too.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

Got to feel a little sorry for McKenna.

All it takes is one speculative headline about another clubs manager potentially going and suddenly certain fans are demanding he makes a statement.

Hopefully the man is on a beach somewhere with phone switched off*, taking a well deserved break.

*OK he probably needs one line open to Ashton to discuss any potential transfer moves in or out, but that's it!

Nothing to say.
He is staying.

I imagine both MA and KMc will be rolling their eyes at fans stupidity.

I am not sure how many more reassurances they could have given.

Also the TWTD headline / article isn't helpful in this regard. As it monetises the site I understand why it was posted.

Are you expecting McKenna to phone Phil each time his name is mentioned in a speculative piece in the media and confirm if he's considering taking said - currently unavailable - job? If so, I think your expectations may be in need of lowering, just a tad!

Blimey, what a take!
