The OinkUn - 13:07 - Jul 9 with 7133 views | waveneyblue | Now I know I will probably get abuse for posting this, but I have to confess I spend a few minutes now and then, just catching up on the "Binner Watch" thread which is now a glorious 91 pages long. Anyway, today - on a different thread - this caught by eye - Another gem from possibly the most obsessed Budgie that has ever walked the planet... Cambridgeshire Canary.. Enjoy On a thread - No excuses, Ipswich have to beat Norwich It is of course the biggest monkey on their back. The ONE thing they all know has really damaged them psychologically. I do remember them throwing a massive victory party and lining the streets with flares and pyros when we first played them last season. They really did think that would be the one, they were celebrating a win before they even played us. Ended the same way it had done for over a decade of course and yet for some reason they seemed surprised at that. Of course statistically all things must ends. Just the way of reality. Nothing stays the same for eternity and things are always changing. For as long as we and them are in the same division chances are that there will come a day they beat us and the run will come to an end. But you know what? The fun part is that even if that happens end of the day the simple fact is there won't ever be another winning run like the one we have had but for them. 16 years. Let me say again. 16. years. That alone rattled them. They were seething with anger with tears in their eyes when we chanted that last we played. Almost breaking down emotionally at just the fact it had been over a decade and a half since they last beat us. They will never in their entire history get to claim they went 16 years without being beaten by us yet we will forever be able to say that we did. That we went 16 years without them beating us. And that will always be hilarious. Just wonder who on here "Broke Down Emotionally" that day, when we absolutely played them off the park and somehow they fluked a 2-2 draw
The OinkUn - on 13:14 - Jul 9 with 4626 views | NedPlimpton | Genuinely, the only emotion I feel about it is embarrassment on their behalf I couldn't give a flip about this "16 years" business. Maybe if we'd played them in each of those years I'd care more. But give me our history over anything they've got to shout about any day of the week [Post edited 9 Jul 13:17]

The OinkUn - on 13:24 - Jul 9 with 4493 views | BlueBlood90 | What I find funny is if/when we do finally beat them, that run is all they have to cling onto. We're a better club historically with much more worthy silverware in the cabinet and we have a better team currently to boot. The past 16 years, which is arguably the worst period in our history, resulted in them yo-yoing up and down and we spent 4 years in League One. Therefore, we never even played them in around half of this glorious era for them.

Yeah, but they have an airport.

The OinkUn - on 13:30 - Jul 9 with 4391 views | TrumptonBlue | I can't be thinking about that triviality, I'm too busy trying to deal with the psychological trauma caused by our failure to beat Cheltenham Town in 87 years (and counting).

Just had a quick look It's 14 matches with them winning 8 and 6 ending in a draw Despite their recent dominance in the fixture, it's still 43 wins a piece. So it's not even like they've had the better of us overall. Just shows how rubbish we've been recently (barring the last few years) and how rubbish their history is general
The OinkUn - on 13:33 - Jul 9 with 4348 views | baxterbasics | "rattled" "anger and tears" Hardly. Mildly annoyed probably closest to how I feel about it. Claiming they played us off the park in that 2-2? Scoff.

Just 7 seasons I believe, 7 wins for them and 7 draws , realistically we haven’t beaten them for 7 years ……..you cannot include the years you’ve never played . By their logic Barcelona haven’t beaten us for over 40 years ……..wow , open top bus .
The OinkUn - on 13:36 - Jul 9 with 4299 views | glasso | Calling it a 'winning run' is a bit of a stretch, too. It's a 'not losing' run.
The OinkUn - on 13:55 - Jul 9 with 4124 views | britbiker | Cambridge canary is one of the biggest tools on that site. I think even their posters get embarrassed by him. He regularly posted made up nonsense stating that we were expecting European football etc. I think our fans pretty universally were very realistic about last year and the future. Haven't really seen anyone stating we will win the championship this season either. Hope we do but just expecting to be competitive this time round. Cambridge appears to be one of those fans that never goes to a game but has an opinion on everything, which generally turns out to be wrong. The year we went up was a golden year for reading his incorrect classic quotes. [Post edited 9 Jul 13:57]

The OinkUn - on 13:55 - Jul 9 with 4121 views | Leutard | If you look at other forums where people are discussing the championship, reddit for instance, there is an absolute insistance from Norwich fans that the 16 years is a massive thing for us, and that we are obscenely upset and obsessed with it. I really don't think many of them appreciate how bad those 16 years were for other reasons, it's all relative. There does seem to be a degree to which this has become Norwich's crowning achievement, especially for younger fans - which I imagine might irritate some of the others [Post edited 9 Jul 13:56]

I wonder if he’s very closely related to that budgie who was banned from here for some disgusting remarks about Bobby Robson.

The OinkUn - on 14:06 - Jul 9 with 3978 views | J2BLUE | To be honest, most of the things written about the other side by both sides is just incredibly biased nonsense. On balance, we are the bigger club. Don't think this can be argued against by most neutrals but most of the things written on there and on here are so biased it's not worth reading. In this case they have changed a welcome event into a victory celebration just to make it sound better for them. So pointless. Maybe i'm just getting old.

The OinkUn - on 14:09 - Jul 9 with 3948 views | gainsboroughblue | The hilarious thing is that for several of those '16 years' we didn't even play them. Celebrating 15 years turning into 16 while we were in the division above (albeit not successfully) is beyond funny. It really has become bigger than Munich for them.

Really? Didn't you sponsor the Mr Clutch Cup that they were celebrating winning, at the start of Mike Bassett, England Manager?

I still look back fondly on our 22 year unbeaten league run against Liverpool, Arsenal, Man Utd and Chelsea, amongst others.

Agreed. And perversely, Norwich fans would probably happily get relegated if they beat us twice. We so live rent free in their heads.

Cambridgeshire Canary is incredibly bitter and poisonous. Some of the stuff he posts is absolute top tier copium, usually based on nothing except his own twisted imagination. It's probably an acute inferiority complex, and the craving of attention from his peers on that site, most of whom seem to treat his nonsense with the disdain it deserves. Absolute loser. Embarrassing.
The OinkUn - on 14:44 - Jul 9 with 3550 views | Nthsuffolkblue | They are a bogey side for us (very apt really). And we do have an issue of not winning the "big" games for some time now. However, the only way we "must" beat nodge is in terms of league position and promotion. While it would be nice to get a couple of convincing wins against them (and for those fans who have never experienced that derby success to get to do so), it would also be highly amusing for them to snatch a couple of undeserved draws and keep harping on about their "dominance" over us as they slide lower and we establish ourselves a division or 2 above them.
