Will this be yet another summer window… 09:47 - Jul 23 with 2276 viewschicoazul

…where we don’t sign our CF target?

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

I must've imagined us signing Liam Delap last summer

Don’t think he was our first choice though.

Seem to recall we spent the summer chasing the Greek lad, whose name escapes me.

And then Broja!

I would suggest the fact we kept the 9 shirt open (Delap obviously would have fancied it given he's chosen it at Chelsea and his previous 19 shirt was vacant) and seemingly chased Broja all summer suggests we didn't get our striker last summer in theory.

In practice, Delap surpassed everyone's expectations and filled that role magnificently. However, those Al Hamadi cameos at the start of the season show why we were almost definitely after another one.

Will this be another day/hour/minute where somebody posts yet another new angsty/stirry thread about the lack of signings with 5 or 6 weeks of the transfer window left, and with Town in a very strong/the strongest possible position to attract players who aren't quite ready for the Premier League?

Quite possibly.

100% certain, I would suggest.

We're going deep into the window for probably two strikers and two midfielders, waiting for the prem teams to sort them selves out, two purchases two loans I'd say,

This myth now comes up almost weekly.

Confident we will get a good one in. I reckon only about 5% of clubs tops get their main target In and that's probably high. The actual game is trying to get a CF as high up your list as possible

Why are we assuming we’re signing another striker? Hirst will be first choice, AAH back up. Maybe a loan in, but I’m not convinced we have a heavyweight signing on the way

I bloody hope not. The recruitment team have had a whole year to look at potential targets. If they haven’t a list what the hell have they been doing all year ?

Fotis Ioannadis, played at Ibrox last night. Didn't score. Got subbed after seventy six minutes. And he was captain for Panathinaikos too. Would he still be prepared to join us now we are in the Championship ? Would we want him after he helped Russel Martin to a first win in charge of Rangers ?

We didn’t even buy him as a CF.
We’ll see what happens, we missed out on not one but two last summer. It’s a theme.
