If we see Akpom as cover for the inside left forward as well as being a second striker option then maybe we've decided we can pull the trigger on the deal. Akpom being able to cover both positions helps with squad numbers, whenever we tried Broadhead as a 9 it didn't work at all.

Think it shows Akpom is the replacement for Broadhead IMO

1 in 1 out

I’d imagine if Hutchinson goes as well, they’ll be a replacement of some sort

Never got the feeling he was one of KM's favourites, but still gave us some happy memories,

Good bit of business by town financially too

a niche perspective

Odd thing for his old man to post before anything confirmed, but seems to tell us all we need.

Good business, let’s get that 7m invested wisely.

Ndidi going for 9m which isn't that far off, doubt he would want to come to us though.

Good to see Leicester weakened though.

One of those rare transfers where it suits all parties given his current contract position.

Yes, he has some weaknesses (otherwise he'd be a Prem regular) but one of the best Town players to watch over the last few decades. Particular stand outs for me that lovely pass to Chappers at Peterboro and the Port Vale home game.

I don't know enough about the extent to which Akpom has been deployed as a 9 vs a 10 in the last couple of years.

However, Town's pursuit of Akpom only seemed to come onto the radar of the media once Wrexham's pursuit of Broadhead surfaced. So you could be right...

If Burns and Philogene were fit, I wouldn't think we need a replacement for Hutch (partly because it would be so expensive to acquire the requisite quality, if it's possible at all). However, if their injuries are going to keep them out for a while, we may well be shopping in that tricksy attacker sweet shop again.

Sad to see him go as a very talented footballer, but it's too good a piece of business not to do and he is down the pecking order.

I think he's a great player, and will miss him. Bit makes sense for all - a good price for a squad player with a year on the contract, and it will clearly be something hugely important for him and his family to go back to Wales and be a key part of a hugely exciting and very prominent project they have going on there. I hope he does brilliantly for them, except in two obvious games.

Bit weird his dad trying to beat everyone to an announcement.. Great player though shame to see him go, is a lot better than Wrexham.

Has he played on the left as well? I know he’s played as a 10, but if he can play out wide too, then makes sense all round.

I’d still rather SS behind Hirst and Clarke on left.

RIP Sir Bobby

Wasn't it his Dad who posted on social media about his 'annoyance' when Broadhead wasn't playing last season?

Ali has also played as a cutting in from the left attacker, so Akpom could signal a real shift of emphasis with a like for like sub at 70 minutes.

Gutted about this one, probably been my favourite player over the last couple of seasons but I think given his understandable grievances the decision is right for everyone and a good fee for the club. Cheers for the memories Broady

One of my favourite players to watch. Will remember his contribution in the Port Vale and Wednesday games. Wish him all the best. Seems like a move that suits everyone.

Woolfie about to deck the ref. Amazing stuff! I think that’s potentially the most nervous I’ve been in the last few years supporting town.

Last season across spells with Ajax & Lille he played ...

LW on 7 occasions
RW on 4 occasions
CAM on 1 occasion
ST on 21 occasions

Year before that at Ajax ..

LW never
RW on 5 occasions
CAM on 9 occasions
ST on 22 occasions

Think that probably tells enough of the story in terms of how we intend to use him Primarily a number 9 but a player versatile enough to play across all 4 attacking positions.
