Omari's sore throat not cleared up?

Must be something going round coz i noticed Dibbling called off for Saints with a sore throat too.

First time I've properly seen Barbrook so quite looking forward to seeing the progress he has made.

Didn't buy into the Hutch rumour (or whatever it was)

Well we've had head. Throat.

Maybe a chest infection?

It's silly tho how a parachute club has 2 keepers on the bench for a cup game. One of them more of a coach too
[Post edited 12 Aug 19:00]

It's possible I suppose that one or two players cried off late in the day, and the only other player who had travelled was Button.

Two keepers on the bench always seem daft, but McKenna has done it before.

I can't imagine there's any point to having two keepers on the bench, rather than just naming fewer subs, other than a little bit of communication of "we need bodies" from McKenna to Ashton.

I don’t see the logic of starting Young in this game. Presumably that means he’ll be on the bench against S’ton. I hope not. I’d like to see him as first choice and Johnson as backup.

Unless they're going to get 45 minutes each.

I think KM is making a point putting three keepers in the squad. Probably bring Button on to play central midfield later.

Surely we could put an U21 there for the experience. Really dont get that tbh

Where is Baggot, couldn’t he have sat on the bench at least ? Or has he caught Omari s sore throat?!

Surprised to see davis starting.

and me, woud have sooner used a youngster. It's going to be a long hard season for Leif.

Says to me that Cajuste must be some way off it that we've risked Davis at left back and kept Humphreys in the middle to not risk Taylor.

So much work to do still.

Agreed. We look miles off it don’t we ?

Clearly not ideal, only other option would have been to play Humphrey's there I think and start Taylor.

Yes, think I'd prefer Baggott at centre back with Young at left back and Kipre or Woolfenden at right back then playing Davis. He's one player where we have barely any cover at the moment. Even O'Shea or Greaves should be risked over Davis.

To be honest I would have done that. Worst case we have to play Cam or the other youngster there if Taylor got injured. Davis is a different one, we really can’t be without him. I’d have kept him out tonight

Not sure I buy this "putting two keepers on the bench to send a message to Ashton". Ashton knows we need players. And McKenna could tell him if he didn't! It would be rather childish to make a point this way, and I have McKenna down as much more sensible than that.

Seems much more likely to me that players have been ruled out late and Button's stepped in.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

How is it stepping in? It would be very, very unlikely to need three keepers in a game, to the point where there's little point?

Is it choice or necessity though? As far as we're aware, there's no reason why Cajuste, Matusiwa and Akpom aren't in the squad - and arguably Broadhead could be there too. I suppose Matusiwa and Broadhead could have picked up knocks.

Or an U21

Sure, but what would be the point of not putting him on the bench if there's a spare spot and he's available?

TEAM on 19:21 - Aug 12 with 537 viewsVaughan8

I'm really surprised Davis is playing. I thought we might try someone else there to see how we go.

The 2 goalie thing is a bit odd but do we know if someone pulled out late and Button/Palmer just stepped in? Who knows. And who really cares?

Why step in ? May as well go light on bench numbers. Don’t see the reasoning there.

If something remarkable happens and, say, Walton is sent off and Palmer injured, it'll seem daft if we had an open place on the bench for third keeper and utilise it just because.
