£37.5m feels somewhat light 20:07 - Aug 14 with 2783 viewsZx1988

Especially with it most likely being paid in instalments, and subject to various clauses no doubt.

Doesn't necessarily feel like much of an upgrade on £35m up front, especially when it had been mentioned that Ashton was valuing him at £40m-£50m.

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

£37.5m LESS Chelsea's 25% ....

If there's a 25%, it will be on the profit. So still profit of £11m+

I think the whole reason any deal has been held up with Brentford or Forest was over not enough being paid upfront so I wouldn't worry about that. I presume the other hold up is us wanting to keep that 25% sell on fee of profit that we have to give to Chelsea.

The fact there has been a breakthrough for just 2.5M more suggests that Forest have very much come to the table when it comes to those two things.

I don't think 40/50 was ever realistic but i do think his play acting probably contributed to us lowering our demands somewhat.

It was my understanding that release clause fees are paid in full, or certainly with a lot more up-front than would otherwise be the case.

I think that was the reason the original Brentford bid was knocked back - they met the £35m price, but didn't want to pay up front.

From an accounting and valuation standpoint, £37.5m receivable over, say, four years is worth a good deal less than £35m receivable tomorrow.

It really makes no difference since we’ll be paying for most signings (big ticket) in the same way (past and future).

I think it's about right. Some of the clauses could be in our favour. If Ashton was talking about 40 million or just over publicly then this was probably around his target.

Glad he's got the move he wanted, wish him well but the circumstances have soured things a bit. I'm sure it didn't need to happen this way if all parties are happy with the deal without it being a protracted Isak type situation.

More complicated than that.

We signed omari at start of season for a 5 year contract for around £22.5M. Therefore his book value per year over 5 years decreases by 4.5m per year (22.5/5).

If we sell him for 37.5M now (after 1 year) his book value will be £18m, the net profit is actually 37.5M-18M which is £19.5M. That 19.5M gets recorded as a single value in this seasons PSR.

We then have to pay Chelsea around 4.875M (25%)

Firstly I think that’s right and secondly I hope it makes sense.

If I remember correctly, Hutch was signed before the end of the 23/24 season, so 2/5ths will now be amortised when his transaction goes into the 25/26 accounts?

Jacob Ramsey going for around £40m, 24 and got a few more seasons experience in the PL so £37.5 for OH is probably about right.

Personally I think that’s a bit of a gamble by Forest, he didn’t exactly shine in the PL for us but it was obviously a tough first season for him.

I guess it leaves a bit of a sour taste in the mouth about how it’s come about but if you’d have told me that that young lad who looked like a breeze would blow him over when he made his debut for us early in the 23/24 season would first become our record signing and then become our record sale I’m not sure I would have believed you.

He looked anything but lightweight in that preseason and on his debut. It actually stood out how well he held on to the ball against much bigger players. He'll end up back at a top Premier League club in a couple of years unless Marinakis holds him and his family hostage.

McAtee also to Forest - but £30m - so Omari very good price (n/t) on 21:26 - Aug 14 with 441 viewsunstableblue

Closer to £15m. Book value is currently at £18M, sale value is £37.5M. Profit is £19.5M, 25% of that is £4.875M, therefore profit just under £15m.

I don't get the mixed opinions on him. Maybe it's because I am watch us drinking coffee in the early morning and some others are 6 pints deep but he was very good at times last year in a bad team, ceiling is ridiculous!

No. I think he signed July 1st, and our accounts run from July 1st to June 30th.

I would certainly not have wanted a fee any lower than that and would have liked to hit £40m, the boy is going all the way.

He's an outstanding young player, but £37.5m is a lot of money. It's not that I don't rate him, it's that it's a very big fee even for someone with his talent.

Forest would be paying for potential rather than buying him on evidence of him ripping up the PL last year.

I mean, I thought he did ok, but just that.. ok.

Best for everyone this gets done I think, don't need bad vibes in the dressing room.

Clubs wouldn't of paid much more so it was either get home to sulk and and get his head on gear of sell now so we can replace him instead of panic buying on last day

I’d be very surprised if our controllership would allow 4.5m write off for a deal concluded hours before end of financial year. How Chelsea treat the transfer and how we treat it from an accounting standpoint will be very different.

Not saying they can’t but unlikely and we will only know once results are published.

Announced June 30th.

Also, not sure what of the add-ons would have been triggered, so somewhere between £18-20M

Closer to £15m. Book value is currently at £18M, sale value is £37.5M. Profit is £19.5M, 25% of that is £4.875M, therefore profit just under £15m.

We bought him for £22m, sold him for £37.5m for a total profit of £15.5m so we'd owe Chelsea 25% of that amount (just under £4m)

PSR profit and loss is a separate calculation.

I think KMc might have said don't hold out for more get it done. The squad doesn't look as together as in the past, suspect some dressing room tension and I can imagine some players might want Omari out as well given his behaviour as he is letting them down too.

Hopefully once the players that wanted out go, the dressing room might settle and we see more togetherness that was such a key factor in the B2B promotion seasons.

Just a thought.
